Well it's not..

They'll drop a few spots down the ladder, but will still make finals.

If anything its good for them. He'll be 29 next year and for a bloke that racks it up a fair bit he doesn't really have any hurt factor.

He's also part of their slow on ball brigade that's been killed by top sides due to their lack of pace.

They'll get a good 1st rounder and there's a bloke by the name of Deven Robertson who'll step straight into that role after another good solid pre season.

Could actually be good for them. It’ll give their one pace midfield a shakeup and no one will be able to go “well we’ll  just go again.”

So where does he go? Back to Freo where he might have burnt his bridges or to the Eagles who might not have that much call for an aging midfielder who gets the pill but doesn’t hurt you that much these days.

Take it with a grain of salt but heard whispers on Sparrow to Crows...💌

Inc pick 6 from Carton for Cerra.

Freo offer 6 and 8 for Neale and Pick 14 from Brisbane.

Brisbane drop pick 8 for T. Mitchell from the Hawks (maybe some later pick swaps).

------

This gives Carlton Cerra, for a deal that was looking expensive for their singular first rounder.

Gives Brisbane currency to stay in the draft and a high pick to nab another star mid (Parker and T. Mitchell on market).

Hawthorn get their draft currency.

This deal values Cerra as a Pick 6 (overs for now).

Neale as Pick 4 (he is a brownlow medalist and star mid for Brisbane while being under contract).

And T. Mitchell as pick 6-10 (pending later pick swaps).

If i'm Sparrow this is logical, he is far better than their kids are currently.

Only problem for us is Sparrow hasn't cemented a spot in his 22 so we can't really get a high pick in return.

Would be sad to see him go, he is developing nicely and isn't on huge coin.

Sparrow has been on the fringes most of the year so I can understand this. The price of being a good team.

The FD have done an amazing job keeping so many kids in the 22 this year.

Good get by the Crows if it happens. 20 year old Grand Finallist/Premiership player.

Kind of like Lever, though we probably won't kick up as much of a stink as the Crows did.

Love Mitch Robinson. Looks to have already deleted it.

EDIT: Or it's fake.

Looks more to me like 'poster remorse'. Looking at the wording of his other tweets, his profile name and pic, I'd be surprised if he didn't post it and delete it immediately...

Yeah it will. They have another kid who I had some time while working with the Murray Bushrangers and that's Ely Smith. 188cm 90kg inside midfield bull who the Lions have been trying to fit into their team, but his own injuries, and Lions having a healthy on ball brigade has impacted this. (Melbourne showed considerable interest in Smith but didn't last to our pick)

One to watch.

Perhaps he is valuing his loyalty to his wife as opposed to a job? (it is, 'just' a job).

Who's to say he hasn't suffered and had immense anxiety about the ramifications of this (in how he is judged as a person (but really an employee) when he and his wife mutually decided it was the best thing for their family?

Thanks mate. What's Smith's ball use like and his pace? Would he have added a different dimension to our midfield?

It's reported that his wife who is 6 months pregnant with first child, wants to return to be more connected with family, whilst raising her own. It looks as though he is acting in his wife's, his child and his own best well-being interest.

The only thing that matters in life is family and friends and the connection you have with them, and its pretty pronounced in these Covid times,  when you have an absence of connection to them.

So don't leave WA in the first place. Simple.

Surely can’t be real. He’s used the correct ‘you’re’. Mitch feels like a ‘your’ bloke to me 😄

Given lack of opportunities in the 2nds  I would have like to see Daws play forward. Smith on the wing/forward or Declase on the wing. We should prise Kemp from the blues, I am aware  that he is not a world beater now. Hunt took awhile to get going with injuries and poor form. Rivers could be made into a mid whilst Petty could play forward next year and cold be another T.Mac. Our areas I would like see we need a forward an outside mid.

or we could leave it as is considering we're a win off a grand final, just a thought...

Why did he leave Freo in the first place? Always thought that was weird, but didn't look too much into it.

Shocked. They really captured Robbo's tweeting style and everything. Such hard work all shot down by the man himself.

Like Oliver he's clean inside the contest and his vision is also very similar. Just a typical midfield brute who plays similar to say Josh Kennedy from the Swans. Has a solid vertical leap on him which gives him a chance to take some good marks also.

I would say if there was one thing he could work on it was his outside game? Quite one dimensional but so was Oliver in his under 18s year. He's worked incredibly hard and now has the perfect balance.

He's definitely your Simon Goodwin/Jason Taylor type pick.

Smith won the Bushies best and fairest in his last year back in 2018 so he definitely had the credits in the bank as well as his impressive Vic Country performance.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
