I reckon not being able to leave your house every second week for a week would be hell 🤷. Anyway, just leaving the stadium and off to the old whiskey bar.

I lived in Perth for a while. It reminded me a lot of Melbourne in lockdown.🤣

We should be given an extra 4 points for beating the umpires. In a bus full of dees supporters going home singing GOF.

For those who are a bit jaded by the last 15 minute output.

imagine you’re 6 goals up - 15 to go, you’ve cooled down - you’ve essentially sewn up top 4. And Burgess says, don’t go out and injure yourself, play it cool, play it safe…you’ve got another 5 matches to go for the season.

do you a) play it safe or b) ensure a greater likelihood of injury after cooling down and go really really hard?

Spot on. The time was just too long for the keepings off mode hence why they came back.

If Fritta, Trac x 2, LJ kicked those goals

if the umpire didn’t call Spargs to play on

If the umpire didn’t pay that free against May

If the umpire split the frees 50/50 in the last

The game would have been wrapped up much more quickly.

Yep in his 2nd game...

I'd happily take that. The last 15 minutes were no doubt hard to watch but I'm sure that if it wasn't for the infuriating lightning break we would've kept the game in control and won by 6-8 goals. That break completely messed with our focus.

ANB and Melksham had their best games of the season. Brown is coming along nicely. Petracca and Oliver, as always, worked really well together in the midfield.

The last 15 minutes aside, that was a very impressive win. We were all over them until three quarter time.

also not forgetting that without the break game would have played out in pelting rain

Going to bed, that was not enjoyable. The win is however. More to come tomorrow.

PS: Weeknight footy can stick it.

[censored] fantastic win with everything against us - location, Covid, fired up opposition, umps, lightning -thats  the win that galvanises the team for the flag. Bring it on -try to stop us!

Will count for squat if we don’t win the last game of the year

Why?

We're locked into the top 4 no matter what.

Presumably we require momentum, or Geelong are the litmus test, or...

To be fair I don’t know how the umpire could call play on before even blowing the whistle on that Spargo mark. He kicks that goal and it’s done.

I am just glad we didn’t cop massive injuries in that last 15 minutes. Take the 4 points and bid farewell to WA, their booing halfwit fans, their [censored] premier, and their crap teams.

I won’t lie, I missed the Spargo one, what happened?

How good was that spin out of traffic at pace in the last qtr and found a teammate

Bloody great win

Beat the lightening, the umps and Meth Coke all in one night

Withstood relentless pressure in the last quarter

I'm a VERY proud and happy Demon supporter tonight.

I think that was Spargo's fault. He marked the ball and then immediately plays on. I think some are arguing the umpire called play on, which would have been wrong (the kick was more than 15), but I reckon he thought it was touched or something. He handpassed to Sparrow who missed the snap.

No it was not       2 minutes away from the worst defeat in living memory   bloody angry what they put us through the last 15 minutes .....west coast [censored] heads are not that good to be allowed to come back like that    I usually do not say anything about umpires but they were shocking   that one against May for contesting from the side   Royal commission needed as to why they are so bad at interstate venues against Vic sides    votes tonight  Umpires 3 brownlow votes.

Ahhh those ungrateful players, not thinking about the supporters back home, stop focusing on the game/your body/risk for finals, and think about the supporters

Clear mark about 40m out directly in front (so probably wouldn’t have made the distance). Umpire doesn’t even blow the whistle to indicate a mark, Spargo looks over his shoulder, umpire calls Play On.
The umpiring at that stadium is such a disgrace I don’t know why clubs don’t get together and put a complaint in.

Loving the development of Petty this season. Lever and May are great mentors for him. Thomo might find it hard to reclaim his place next year!

Thommo can play other positions I reckon. Wing, forward. Too good to not be in the 22. Bloody good position to be in though 😁

Right.

Your first post after the game, other than to bag the umpires, is to say this win means nothing if we don't win the premiership.

That's a ripper attitude.

And by ripper I mean ridiculous.

Dudes. I was at Optus tonight. Every single moment was amazing. We totally outplayed them bar some moments in the 2nd quarter. That third quarter and the start of the last was total domination. By the point we came off the game was over regardless. I am on top of the world right now. Go you mighty Dees. We came here to do a job and we did it. Dees!!!!

Round 12 the last time we’ve scored more goals than behinds, it’s disgraceful from the club and I agree it will cost us something big if we don’t actually sort it out.

We. Are. Top. Of. The. Ladder.

Disgraceful? It was a slopfest out there tonight. And we won. Would've won by 6+ goals without the delay.

  • NON-MFC: Round 05

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
