I would give Petracca - minus 10….pathetic effort from him today,

Pathetic?
he was one of few that put in a strong effort all game. Missed some targets and goals but very far from pathetic.

Agree that Trac was polarizing today. Had some good one on ones and tried to drag us back into the game.  Certainly not a bad game.

BUT HIS MISS FOR GOAL FROM 25-30 METRES OUT STRAIGHT IN FRONT WAS HORRIBLE.  In the context of the third quarter, it was bad.

Our kicking for goal is putrid

No one has any conftidence nor firs thecfirward line look cohesive.

Guess who coaches both Stafford??

What quals has he to be a forward AFL coach and goal kicker. ?

Pressure seems to get the better of our forwards. Need to be more relaxed and first option trained.

Had a discussion last night about the Dees and who we could hope to see step more in the 2nd half of the year. Gussy Brayshaw was an interesting one. I said he was having a good year (and great to see him on the park given his concussion issues from a few years ago). But agree he’s hardly back to 2018 and is planning a more defensive wing type role. Thought he was very good against the bombers.

Can't make my mind up about Hibberd's game. Only a few possessions of his own, but kept Toby Greene's numbers way down, except for the matter of 3 goals in a low scoring game. I guess that's closer to a fail than a pass. (And I'm not suggesting Hibberd should be near the votes).

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
