Apart from loathing Geelong, it has to be the long game tonight. Yes, top spot is at stake, but a loss by Duckwoods mob at home is worth about 3 games I reckon. Go Dogs

That was brilliant mark from Bruce under full pressure....(BT ...a good mark)

Fabulous and how about the shinana!  Should have been 50 against the Cats and a certain goal regardless.  Getting their usual armchair ride at the Cattery

So the VIC government are paranoid about having crowds at games. And when they finally do allow crowds they put 3,500 people on each wing with absolutely no social distancing.

Makes perfect sense.

Good call. Its so strange. Probably the one in charge of internarional quarratine arrivals made the seating tonight.

Since our lads have had recent prime time exposure, our family have learnt to turn the volume down on these excruciating clowns who claim to be commentators. Listening again tonight affirms that decision. Like 360 on Foxtel, it is simply not possible to listen for any length of time….

Get permission from the government and then save $ by only opening up small sections.

They could just open up certain gates and bars but ffs let people spread out.

Their whole management or lack thereof  since the get go has been amateur hour to say the least.  They hit the panic button at the mere mention of more than two or three infections while NSW continue with "covid normal" with no lockdowns and just a few precautionary ad ons.

They will drive this state's small business  sector in to a very deep ditch with their next over reaction if they haven't already.

I’m so confused. I haven’t heard Brian Taylor continually question and deride the credibility of either of these teams. Must be saving it all up for when one of them is 6 goals in front -like he does when we are.

Daisy is the only one I can listen to happily.

Bulldogs lucky to be still in it.

Geelong the cleaner team but not quite clicking in the last 70 metres

Rowan showing the advantage of a third forward.

Why is Hawkins being allowed to ruck against the lesser ruck in the forward line.. just a matter of time

And Girlong has not had any covid since last september. Go and figure that. As far as I am concerned it should be a full house.

Well done Hannan, been in it quite a bit tonight.

Watching the game, I can’t help but realise how many Geelong players I hate.

All of them?

Duncan (knee) and Naughton (ribs) - big losses for both clubs if those injuries cause lengthy periods on the sidelines…

Love the way Daisy is providing comments that contradict the idiots she has to share the booth with.

It’s crazy isn’t it, almost like she understands modern footfall…

Cats down two midfield rotations if Parfitt has joined Duncan on the sidelines

Rank 1 - 4  in terms of how much you hate them ...

  1. Selwood
  2. Dangerfield
  3. Hawkins
  4. Rowan

1. Hawkins

2. Selwood

3. Dangerfield

4. Rohan

Selwood just couldn't believe he was eventually penalised for throwing.

SEN calling for a 50 meter - the "offender" was running full pelt when the mark was taken.  What is he supposed to do??? (Not sure what the idiots on 7 said).

I hope the Dogs get up.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

  • PREGAME: Brisbane

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
