At the time BBB looked a fair step off the pace

My bad. Yes you are correct.

Terrible game to watch, we lacked intensity and belief, I have nothing against the Weid but if you saw all the Pie big men they all contributed and tried their guts out. In all honesty could BBB play a worse game than the performance put in by Weid, I doubt it. We also have Mitch and Majak who would be more reliable and energetic . We now have nine weeks to sort this out.

Come on Coaches get your thinking caps on you need to sort this well before finals.

I don’t like to bag players but we can’t keep playing a man short.

At this stage of the year perhaps we should try B.Brown and M.Brown/Daw. The Weid lacks confidence for some reason perhaps it is due the arrival of B.Brown. We cannot afford to play him any more.

Brown can come in off training form, the fact there is no VFL is not an excuse for not picking players to come in. That’s really ridiculous if you take that to the logical conclusion that no one can get a call up without first playing VFL.

I wouldn’t hesitate.

And the way some Dees fans waive away Brown’s recent history in the Coleman race and yet call back to one game of Weideman three years ago is cognitive dissonance of the highest calibre - you have to try hard to be so obtuse…

Close the thread. This nails it shut.

Weideman isn’t cooked he’s just not up to it. Trade him.

Trade implies two parties each wanting something

Petty should be trained as the backup forward.

I believe that he had been, but it is certainly not an option this year in the absence of Tomlinson.

Max is about to have a week's rest....

Hands up those who’ll be excited to see Viney back in for our Saturday night redemption game against the bombers on the 26th

He needs more than that in my opinion

You cannot play the same 22 every week for 22 weeks

The FD needs to strategically rest some players and freshen the group Any that's my view !!

Yeah considering that's actually never happened in the history of AFL, I think we'll be sweet in that regard cob.

Go back to the mobile fwd line, keep the pressure up and create turnovers and scores like earlier in the season.

Out: Weid, Sparrow

In: Viney, Melksham

B:        Lever          Petty       Hibberd

HB:    Hunt.            May         Salem

C.       Langdon     Oliver       Brayshaw

HF.     Pickett.      Tmac.       Nibbler

F.       Spargo.      Jackson    Fritsch

R. Gawn, Trac, Oliver

I/C Jordon, Harmes, Rivers, Melksham

Sub: Sparrow/Chandler

Dont want to be a downer but I wouldnt get too excited about when the club says he will be back.

I recall he was only out for two

Then four

Then six

Heres hoping....has been very much missed .

Hawthorn website has an article on how their players plus a few Pies went in a scratchie against some of ours also with a few Pies. Has the club put anything out about this?

They can start doing that at rd 16 onwards. Let’s secure our finals place and perhaps even a top 4 before flirting with that idea

B Brown for Weid. Viney if fit for Sparrow.

Viney will add a bit of hardness and desperation.

Team probably needs the bye time out to get a mental and physical rest.

There is no resting of players after the bye, unless we get to round 22/23 and have a top 2 spot sewn up. Every single game matters now and we will not simply rest players unless they are actually injured and cannot play.
If we don’t finish top 2 or at least in a top 4 spot that ensures we play our finals at the G, we are unlikely to win the flag this year.

While dropping Weid is the right thing to do, there are a few things worth remembering:

- his preseason was heavily interrupted

- last year he put in half a dozen really solid games working in conjunction with Jackson in the forward line, if he had of improved off the back of that batch of games, he’d hold his place this year

- TMac was poor 2019& 2020, same as Harmes, so I wouldn’t write off Weideman, he needs a very good preseason then let’s see what he can do in 2022!

Agree. Same applies to BB. Both have had interrupted preseasons so it may well be 2022 before we see the best of either of them.

I’ve never missed him more!!!

I miss his grunt, his nuggety-ness, his come hell or high water-ness. He’s just the shot in the arm we need. ❤️?

I love what you did there play Clarry in two spots, that probably gives Sparrow a spot on the bench.?

It's Game Day, and reinforcements are finally arriving for the Demons—but will it be too little, too late? They're heading down the freeway to face a Cats side returning home to their fortress after two straight losses, desperate to reignite their own season. Can the Demons breathe new life into their campaign, or will it slip even further from their grasp?

"It's officially time for some alarm bells. I'm concerned about the lack of impact from their best players." This comment about one of the teams contesting this Friday night’s game came earlier in the week from a so-called expert radio commentator by the name of Kane Cornes. He wasn’t referring to the Melbourne Football Club but rather, this week’s home side, Geelong. The Cats are purring along with 1 win and 2 defeats and a percentage of 126.2 (courtesy of a big win at GMHBA Stadium in Round 1 vs Fremantle) which is one win more than Melbourne and double the percentage so I guess that, in the case of the Demons, its not just alarm bells, but distress signals. But don’t rely on me. Listen to Cornes who said this week about Melbourne:- “They can’t run. If you can’t run at speed and get out of the contest then you’re in trouble.

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit.
Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

For a brief period of time in the early afternoon of yesterday, the Casey Demons occupied top place on the Smithy’s VFL table. This was only made possible by virtue of the fact that the team was the only one in this crazy competition to have played twice and it’s 1½ wins gave it an unassailable lead on the other 20 teams, some of who had yet to play a game.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

In my all-time nightmare game, the team is so ill-disciplined that it concedes its first two goals with the courtesy of not one, but two, fifty metre penalties while opening its own scoring with four behinds in a row and losing a talented youngster with good decision-making skills and a lethal left foot kick, subbed off in the first quarter with what looks like a bad knee injury.
