Majak would be wondering what he is doing on the list if one of the mid season draft blokes gets a game down back

Would be a very strange time to give players a rest with one game in 22 days.  plenty of time to rest.  ~12 days off post Pies game

perhaps there are some actual injury concerns

He’s back up ruck. I don’t think it’s so simple. Max should have a rest at some point. That is his best opportunity to play IMO.

Got some notes from the practice match yesterday:

- Chandler was phenomenal.  Had ridiculous numbers with very high possession and kicked 4

- Jones played well and is a class above at that level

- BB was good without dominating

- MB very quiet

The games were joint teams from Pies, Bombers and Blues

Where did Chandler play? As a Mid, or small forward.

Pretty sure there is a quote for the club somewhere saying he was drafted as a (backup) forward. Then Tommy  stepped up to A grade and Brown is in the 2s.

Majak's best year by a long shot was when he played down back for North. Can also play ruck.

So............

Mid and half forward

When he played against Carlton? he played with a lot of energy and was in a lot of pack/fall of ball contests, but didn't get much of the ball.

Maybe he is a Mid; that's gonna make it hard for him.

I agree but he is still very young and has time on his side.

Buckley: Out?

Harvey: In?

In: Langdon

Out: Melksham

Only the one change this weekend. We would all love Weids to be marking more and kicking a couple of goals each week, but he went out and didn’t lose a one on one which bought the ball to ground. He was directly involved in a few goals whether it was from a handball or off his own marking contests, so I would like to see him given a bit more time. The goals and marks will come, but at the moment he is crashing packs and halving marking contests which allows Spargo, ANB and Pickett to get to their work of crumbing and pressure.

Ok, I'll just reiterate this is all unconfirmed so take it with a big grain of salt:

Salem and Lever out. One other player out too but not sure who. Apparently one of the brand new blokes a chance to debut as well, I'm assuming Turner as he's a similar role to Lever from what I understand.

Again, very very much unconfirmed at this point.

Still no Gawny n Gus podcast (I'm at home with a bung back not much else to do) They normally record early in the week. I recall one episode a few months ago they spoke about a resigning and had to delay the release of the podcast (Benny Gibson even said "we'll have to delay this now")

You might be on the money. A convenient "getting to know" video released a day or so ago too... ?

In     BB  Ed Langdon

Out   Weeds  Melksham

OUT MELKSHAM, HARMES, WEIDEMAN

IN LANGDON, VINEY, B. BROWN

A really good fit for Collingwood, that's my take on Weideman.

His hands are poor and his kicking skills at goal are very poor. Season 2021 so far, 4 matches, 3 goals 4 behinds, says it all.

There is no lockdown role for Harmes this week, so for team balance he goes for Viney.

Melksham is simply omitted due to his lack of defensive acts.

Sparrow stays due to his work ethic and upside.

Welcome to demonland, but please read the injury updates. Viney isn’t back until after the bye. Also there’s no way Harmes would be left out even if he was.

I doubt this is the week they give up on Weid with Brown lacking serious match practice, but that’s a different issue.

Ditto. Welcome weg.

It's great that so many new posters are jumping on board the demonland express. Love it

Ditto on harmes too. Has been fantastic since he came back in.

And whilst he is a good option to tag an opposition gun mid he doesn't need to tag.

Didn't really tag lag, well not hard anyway, week against one of the gun midfields.

And I reckon goody sees him as a key player. A best 22 lock for the rest of the year.

Would love Jones in for Big Freeze game, but probably fanciful.

Wouldn’t it be magical if Jonesy becomes our medical sub in our winning grand final side and he plays out of his skin in the final quarter. What a great way to go out for such a wonderful servant of our club.

We can only fantasise!

Go Dees!

I have a feeling that Goodwin will give Sammy W one more week to prove himself.  If he has another poor game, he is out and B Brown will play for an extended block post-bye.

IN:  Langdon.

OUT:  Melksham or Sparrow (liked Sparrow's game though).

Is there any further word on the rumours earlier this week about Salem and Lever potentially being a bit sore and having a rest?

Unfortunately Viney has been ruled out this week, available post-bye hopefully!  Langdon comes in and in my view Brown will replace Weideman post-bye, although Goodwin may have lost patience and might strike early (I am just about ready to push him back to the VFL).  Harmes might get freed up if there is no one to tag and play as a pure mid, let's see what he can do!

Are we naming an extended squad tonight ?

Agree - I think we are a better team with Harmes on the field

The only change I see is Langdon in - who goes out not sure

Really hope Lever and Salem are fine - they can have a rest after Monday

Be great to see Weid have a good one - at least a few strong one grab marks and 2 or 3 goals, anything less and he is on thin ice. BB needs to really earn a recall IMO not just be gifted a game because Weid is not firing on all cylinders

Given that we have a Bye next week and Buckley's resignation probable effect, I would hope that if Salem and Lever are sore they can rest up over the BYE. I would think that a lot of the players may need a rest. Salem certainly looked patchy last week.

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
