QBW game now at risk

That was always at risk. This case could now make the next weeks game or the whole season at risk if it gets out in NSW. Every other state will shut their borders to the Victorian AFL teams.

Giants stadium... eh.

As a Sydneysider I was pumped to watch them at the SCG on Friday. Alas..

Oh well, does anyone know where in giant stadium most Dees supporters will sitting? Will go, but would prefer not to be sitting in acres of cavernous space..

How did you get tickets ? I’ve been looking everywhere and can’t see anything? I’m a country member of MFC and want to take the kids as well  thx

Ticketmaster - they go on sale at 2pm. https://www.ticketmaster.com.au/melbourne-v-brisbane-lions-olympic-park-04-06-2021/event/13005AC1A2905847

I’ve asked the club if my interstate membership gives me access or if I have to buy a ticket.

Not sure the person did much wrong, just bad luck.

Showing symptoms on the 25th but not getting tested until the 31st is as wrong as things can get.

Too many people in this current outbreak have had symptoms for days before getting tested. It's no wonder exposure sits are over 350.

100%
I woke up with a tiny sore throat and I’m already in line to get tested even tho I have been at home since the lockdown started and live nowhere near any exposure sites.
People wait far too long and in the meantime visit 1200 bars and restaurants and bottle shops and work.

If you’re a homebody I can understand it but to travel around and live your life as you may cause the delay of others is, I’m sorry to say, selfish and ignorant.

Im sure their excuses flowed freely - the height of hubris in humans is when we are rightly accused of something terrible.

Hi Sydee, As a fellow Sydneysider i will be there with as many as I can muster! A country memebership gets you access to 5 home games or their replacements. I think this may be a home game so you should be ok, if not who cares there will be plenty of tickets!

I can walk to the SCG but think this is a much better venue for us and will be happy to drive out there Friday night.

I think sadly no one from Vic can attend unless you were here pre-lockdown, the local rule is whilst the border is open if you travel here you have to apply the restrictions of your home state (ie: lockdown) and I suspect the travel incident overnight will mean the rules will be tightened here.

Thanks Robbie57 that's all consistent with what I thought was the case. Have rung the club and waiting for confirmation

Not sure how it works with seats if I purchase some on ticketmaster - can't imagine there will be a big crowd given no Sydney team involved but also conscious that it is a pretty small ground (capacity wise)

Nice choice of favourite player btw - Tulip was very special !

When the game was scheduled for Alice, we had arranged for a dozen family and friends to gather at our place (Canberra) to watch the game.  That arrangement is still going ahead.
Mrs DOF commented this morning, that there’s a chance there will be more spectators in our lounge room, than there will be at Giants Stadium.

I actually think GIANTS stadium is a better ground - have you been to it before?

Let me know which section you end up getting tickets for. We should try to sit in the same area to try to at least give an illusion of a crowd on TV...

Response from MFC re interstate members:

“Yes, you have access to Friday night’s game at the Giants Stadium. Please see the below barcode to be used in ticketmaster to access your $0 ticket. Tickets will be available from 2:00pm today”

Ok, They’ve just sent out a general email to interstate members ?with your barcode.

Heart goes out to those in Victoria (and for those in missing the game in the NT).

However, for those based in Sydney it's a great opportunity to see the team at the peak of their powers. Having grown up in Sydney during the 1980's, when most people in Sydney thought the VFL was some strange new STD, this game is huge. Friday night, top of the table, peak form having just reclaimed the top of the table. Honestly – it doesn't get any bigger.

So, my message to all the NSW Demons – get there. We have a responsibility to carry the flame for our Southern brethren. I want to see every damn demon supporter there – young and old, rusted-on or bandwagon jumper, Matt Doran or Hamish Blake – I don't care. As long as you're in Sydney and a Demons supporter, that's all that matters. At 2pm today hit up Ticketmaster!

Let's make some noise.

Dr you are not a very smart Dr

Waiting a week nearly to get tested and going here and there in that time is not smart.

Thsts why there are 300 exposure sites

Should have got tested on the 24 or 25 th. (?And isolated at home till a result.)

Everyone's an expert.....

I know a person that works on the front line in Melbourne. They were called and told they were at a Tier 1 exposure site and to get tested.

"when were we exposed?" they asked.

"8 days earlier" was the reply

3 sites on the same premises were given warnings  5, 6 and 7 days earlier.

That is a huge amount of potential spreading all because of a stuff up with contact tracing.

NSW has not had this problem and has been able to handle outbreaks sensibly and without locking down the whole State. Victoria is run by imbeciles.

It beggars belief that they have not got contact tracing and uniform QR codes sorted.

They got the wrong supermarket in this latest surge and the mistake wasn't corrected for 14 days.

No wonder we are in this mess.

So frustrating wkth the possibilty of future games possibly not played at the Mcg.

Apart from the enjoyment people will miss, I do believe the Mcg suits our game more than so many other teams.

With our elite fitness we enjoy the space and use it to our advavtage runnimg teams oit of energy.

Also miss the crowd advantage against interstate teams which is such a huge facor in their wins at home.

Apologies if this sounds insenitive to the whole situation but I needed to vent.

Its our closest shot to a flag for a long time and its being hampered by this horrible pandemic.

The city Melbourne has suffered the most under covid lockdowns so lets hope its Afl namesake brings home the cup.

Nah nothing wrong, just like Case 5 waited about a week with symptoms before getting tested. Makes sense to me..

Why do you think this Robbie?

Would we get a better crowd and atmosphere at the SCG? (I know it wont be a massive crowd though)

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
