While it is way less then desirable it won't worry me that much. Just win I don't care where at the end of the day.

If we happen to make a GF 2000 is a long time between drinks OD.  I'm not sure i would see another one if we had to wait that long again.  And we know how hard they are to get into.

If i we don't have to go in to quarantine i'd happily travel.  I get you're position on this also which is fair.  Everyone is different but i for one wouldn't pass up the chance to to see Clarry, Big M, Lingers, Tracc, Kozzie, Piggy, Dogga, Viney (?), Maysey and Lever etc in the big dance live!

But if we have to go interstate and quarantine we miss the prelim final. And what if you go and we don’t make it?
If the GF is going to be interstate again between two Victorian teams they should push it back 14 days to allow Victorians to attend ?

The AFL is clinging onto fading hope its Queen’s Birthday blockbuster could still be held at the MCG as it continues to deal with a worsening Covid-19 crisis in Victoria.

Three Melbourne clubs — Collingwood, St Kilda and Melbourne — were still in travel limbo on Monday night as the league looks to embrace a fly-in, fly-out model in preference to extended interstate hubs.

No games will be played in Victoria this weekend and the AFL has held off finalising its round 12 fixture until at least Tuesday.

FINDING an alternative venue for the Melbourne-Brisbane Friday night match - possibly the SCG. The game was to be played in Alice Springs in a special Northern Territory deal worth $800,000 to the Demons.

The round 13 clash is the only Victorian game scheduled for that weekend and the league is still hopeful the marquee MCG game can go ahead.

But it would almost certainly be in an empty stadium or before a severely reduced crowd — a shattering blow given it is a signature day for Neale Daniher’s Freeze MND movement.

Neither would I but even at the G with 100% attendance it would be difficult to get a ticket. With 50k members and then subtract corporates and MFC staff, GF guarantee membership holders etc that would not leave many for a std member like me. I would need very large amount of luck to get a seat. Some time ago I realised should we ever make it again chances are I will in front of the TV. So on that basis on a selfish personnel level I don't care where the game is played. I hope you can get a seat RN.

You mean the 6-8 weeks lockdown last July that lasted 5 months?
I am not suggesting this will be a 2 months lockdown. I’m simply saying this will be a lot longer than the 7 days initially outlined and that restrictions (masks, reduced capacity at venues, gatherings etc) will be in place for most of winter.

I think that's close to reality

significant closures until after QB and then slow removal of restriction over a minimum of 4 weeks.

So in simple terms a minimum of 6 weeks from now

Any idea if the guys are able to train a one group atm or are we stuck training in smaller groups, if so that’s going to be a huge disadvantage vs the interstate sides or the sides that already left vic

Been discussing the same thing from WA with a long-distance membership (Though with 6 of us having a membership that gives me slightly better odds).  Should I buy a GF package now instead of relying on getting a GF by lottery I assume if we make it?

The age are reporting we are likely to be playing at Giants stadium.

I'm not sure it bothers Goodwin or the boys about which ground it is, but the SCG is a bit small.

I’m glad there’s speculation the Dees v Pies game will still be at the G, even without a crowd.

Id rather play at the G in front of nobody than a pointless 1,500 at Giants stadium or Metricon stadium where finals won’t be played.

We need to play as many games as possible at the home of footy in order to make the G a fortress come finals.

My guess is that as the home team we will be given choice of Giants Stadium or SCG, so not worried which ground it'll be as I'm sure we will pick the ground that suits us better

Seriously? The whole point of the fortress scenario is that we have the majority of support in the crowd. If the crowd is zero, there ain’t no fortress. If the AFL/Vic Govt decide there can be no crowd at the G on Queens Birthday, there is absolutely no point bringing the players back to play there

Jonathan Brown (On the Couch) stating that Melbourne should play this game at the Gabba for the good of the game.

He thinks the fact that’s our home game is completely irrelevant.

He said he reckons we would rather play in front of a huge crowd in a packed stadium. It is a fair question

Thankfully Jonathan Brown is now completely irrelevant.

I said a fortress at finals time when there will be crowds.

If the Q Birthday game can be played at the G without a crowd, then why would we play the game interstate?

Clubs and the AFL are doing everything they can to not hub interstate, so it’s likely we’ll be in VIC anyway on that long weekend.

We played so poorly there last year.

It is a fair question but I feel it’s giving Brisbane too much of a free kick.

We’re absolutely playing for sheep stations at the moment and we shouldn’t be giving a direct contender an additional home game. Not this year.

All the talk is that the game will be in Sydney so it’s pretty much a moot point.

If we really wanted to play in QLd we’d get the exemption from their government who are full of double standards.

Yeah, coz doesn’t every club make every decision based on what’s good for the game???? Give me a break. ?

How about good for integrity of the game! Its our home game playing away in NT to support our indigenous culture thats the good of the game and not handing Lions home ground advantage!

They should bring the WCE/Richmond game forward a week and shift our game vs the Pies to round 14. We would lose the game being on queen's birthday but with no crowd it doesn't matter anyway. This way Richmond gets to spend a week less in Perth and we have the chance to play the Pies at the G.

We only lost to Brisbane by 3 points last year didn't we?

If the Dees Lions’ roles were reversed old mate Jonathan Brown would be schtum on the Lions acting in the interests of rhe game

what a load of malarkey

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
