Your previous post re: restrictions: there are currently LGA and 10km restrictions. I make no comment on the appropriateness of 10k v 5k, merely make the observation.

Lost the plot is quite a contentious assertion and implies quite a number of things - perhaps it might be more accurate to say they can't keep up with the volume? Which of course is a function of people moving around, which CT can't control. It's worth remembering these are actual people doing this - I know some of them.

I am in regional NSW in the northern border bubble and would prefer a ring of steel approach and more stringent lockdown, 4 weeks ago.

So as to avoid any perception this isn't about footy: I now can't get to theGold Coast Dees game (yes I unpacked my miniature Stradivarius).

I know they're on a knife's edge, but so are we, and I suspect our knife is sharper: our State has suffered much more than the others. From what I've observed, so many people, businesses etc can't take much more (not speaking for myself - I can work from home, I'm fully vaccinated and I live in a lovely environment, but lots of others aren't so lucky)

The problem with Vic is that some if not all finals could easily be no crowds. I suppose you could then just pause and do 10 days quarantine in Tas or WA.

I am the same DJ I cannot change anything so whatever happens I really don't care. Just noticed this time time 2 years ago I was flying off to Bangkok. A repeat of that is not going to happen any time soon if ever for me. Right now I would very happy to just watch  the seconds play finals live.

Everything helps. 5km versus 10km is a big different in radius. It means seeding from one LGA to another can stop. 

Also this idea of only hard locking down some LGAs and not others is not sustainable. We tired it during our second wave and it did SFA. Either everyone does it (I am not talking regional vs metro because that is different), or nobody does it.

We made so many mistakes, and NSW literally sat and laughed at us. Less than two weeks ago Gladys literally sniggered when asked why she isn't employing Victorian tactics. She said we were not successful in supressing Delta, which is in fact 100% incorrect. We had just done it 4 weeks prior. 

Perhaps they have not lost the plot, but they have lost control. I know GPs in NSW who have people coming into their offices saying their household contacts are tier 1 but nobody has told them they also had to isolate, and oh their throat is a bit sore and their nose is runny. The mind absolutely boggles.

And this is definitely not a political commentary. I am not a labour supporter, I never have been. I think all our leaders in this country have been really poor. It just shows you how underprepared we are for any type of emergency. We've lived a protected and charmed existence in this country for decades, and we are ill prepared to  deal with any real problems at all levels of government. God help us if we are ever in an actual war.

Well guess what, I've been in 6 months of lockdown in Victoria and I deserve my share of the Pfizer as much as anyone in NSW, SA, Tassie or QLD. 

They have just opened up Pfizer eligibility to pregnant women. Finally! My friend is 37 weeks pregnant, very high risk pregnancy and has been in and out of hospital for months. They refused to give her Pfizer until today. If she gets to miss out, then so does Bob in NSW who wants to go to Prada tomorrow.

Excellent post. The difference between a 5km radius and a 10km radius results in a total area which is 4 times the size. That allows a lot more opportunity to spread the virus. I hate being in lockdown and I detest the 5km rule - but I accept the logic of why both are imposed.

Returning to footy, does anyone know what this article says? The photo has Hawthorn and Melbourne in it and so I'm wondering if it talks about us?

How can the AFL take that risk? It would be an absolute embarrassment and a farce if that worst case scenario transpired.

Play it in QLD if they have to, or suck it up and cop a 40,000 crowd at the MCG as a show of goodwill to Victorians who have clearly done it the toughest since March 2020.

I think there's no doubt at all that if the MCG can hold 40,000 on Grand Final day, the Grand Final will be at the MCG.

The AFL will have a threshold figure in mind and I suspect it will be lower than 40,000.

Alternatively they'll have to bring forward one of our West Coast, Adelaide or Geelong games. Given Adelaide is already in Victoria, we may find that game brought forward. But then it gets tough because we don't have neat match ups to move around to make that work.

Felt like I was going to brea out in a fever and had this really discomforting feeling on my skin. Only lasted for about 1 hour and I would rather feel sick for a couple of hours than put up with all the [censored] of lockdowns and basic human rights being thrown out the window. Bring on that 2nd jab.
