He will be a star.

Took an amazing mark that wasn’t paid but I still think his body isn’t right. If he doesn’t add strength he needs to quicken up . At the moment he’s neither quick, strong nor probably fit enough to have a huge impact.

a good win, if we could only improve on our kicking efficiency, we would be so better. i hope there boys are hungry enough to want to stay on top of the ladder and come out again week after week with that hunger. Demons sides of old often got complacent especially when playing some of the lower sides.

Interesting

as an observation compared to 3 years ago we can now hit a target and our skill level is now such that it’s expected that we will make good choices and execute

also good to see the Pies have a win

they are definitely a top-17 side

Tom "Terrific" Ripper Ripper Game. Cometh the moment. Cometh the man. Kicked some 'clutch' goals tonight to deny the swannies, back to his best footy. Where are all the self-appointed drop Tom brigade now?

One of the best things about this start is watching Tom sticking it the doubters.

It's also worth mentioning that our kicking for goal across the board has really improved. Makes a huge difference.

Clarry had 10 clearances. BOG with Tmac and May.
Agree on the rest.

His best was brilliant, but it was a 2020 game of sublime and awful. A lot of the centre clearances were on him failing to capitalise on getting the hit to him. And his kicking simply needs to be better too.

Red alerts

1 centre clearances 4-17

2 Contested marks 4-11

Swans definitely were high in pressure and contested footy.

Two reasons why we won

1 Our defence won the game   The back 6 were so strong once again

2 Tommy mcd. Another excellent game. 4 goals.

Agree on the rest.

IMO his first half was super ineffective but he really made the Swans pay in the second half.

Christian Salem is our most important player.

8-0 weeeeeewwwww

There was a moment in the third I think through the centre corridor where Salem was almost caught but spun out of the tackle and in the same movement delivered a stab pass straight down a team mate's throat.

Awesome

Goodwin in the presser noting we lost centre clearances 4-17.

That's a shocking result, but the fact we could still win against a side starting the round in the top 4 is a good sign.

33-22 in stoppage clearances so it wasn't all bad.

Sydney drop a number back and often concede stoppage clearances, plus they’re a lot easier to win in your backline.

The +11 stoppage clearances pretty much balance the -13 centre clearances. Where as when we play well we win in the centre and lose the stoppages because we have a lot inside 50

Second week in a row Lever has been tagged - by athletic mid sized forwards in Zuhaar and Hayward.

Petty’s lack of speed means we can’t swap him over as easily as Tomlinson, which means Lever can’t rotate on to the bad tall.

Just something to watch in the way teams are targeting the guy who might’ve been our best player through 6 weeks.

I spent the game in the Swannies sponsors box. Wore my Demons gear proudly and pumped with the result despite the grind. That was a HUGE win for this team. Top 4 side, close game, tested until the final siren. 8-0 is unbelievable. So proud of the boys. This is a new feeling, I haven’t enjoyed footy this much in 39 years.

I also won 2 hampers and had a good chat to Dees alumni Luke Williams (for those who remember him) so a pretty great night ?

Forgot about him. Yes he was again very very good. Like Tommy is a big part of this seasons sucess.

To give him some credit, Petty did look better than he did in the hawthorn game, competed strongly and only got caught out once from memory.

Maybe the backline just made him look better but I still think he did a good job.

Goody post game ....we tried a lot of different things to squash the centre clearances.

I wonder what they were.?

Luke Jackson has better success in centre bounce clearances. Max has zero connection and often taps it to the most dangerous spot

He kicked one opportunist goal but burnt teammates four five times.

On this year's form 800k a year is not well spent.

He is a seriously unlikeable bloke

Spargo has taken his game this season to the next level. Clearly a player who knows he is on the fringe and does not want to lose his spot. I must admit last year I was not convinced on him but his tackling pressure has been awesome. In that final quarter he was great.

May on Buddy was just brilliant. Kept him goalless and was just there. I don't care he has been out injured.

Yze needs to work with Brayshaw this week, has had a terrible 2 weeks.

McDonald, wow everytime he goes for goal I just have full confidence in him. That pack mark in the final term was awesome. He must be so full of confidence.

Harmes I will admit did get better as the game went on.

Salem in that first half kept us in it with his kicking and was so composed.

Ben Brown stood up with 3 goals and will only get better.

I don't mind that lever was down. It's good others stood up.

Just so happy that we held on. Sydney were really charging at us and we stuck fat and defended brilliantly.

Also how great is it to see happy demons supporters streaming out of the ground. The members was rocking tonight.

Fortunately for Petty he has 3 of the best defenders in the league beside him (May, Lever and Salem)

Good time for him to learn then considering our injuries.

The Toby Greene of Sydney. A total [censored].

No 1 vs No 2 pressure teams and the game played like that. There were times I thought we were playing us.

I was sitting next to a Swans supporter on the train on the way home who singled out Umpire 7 for a trip to the Albury Wodonga league next week. Thought he stiffed us both.

I thought our centre clearances after qtr time was awful. Did well across half back to repel all number of attacks. Tom Mac, take a bow. That pack mark in the 4th was awesome. BBB did some really nice things and shut up his detractors from last week.

Nervous for Trac, he didn't look great after the clash at the end. Very proppy.

Great win against a good side. Not good for the nerves.

What I like was how Oliver is becoming a fourth quarter specialist. He must rate his fitness.

Loved some of the tackles. Langdon's, Gawn's and Jordon's come to mind.

Liked the presence of BBB and he seems to be working harder on defensive aspects than he did at Norf.

Love the rejuvenation of TMac. Back to 2018 agility and form.

Like that Salem had over 600 metres gained.

And love that we are playing as a team. If the stars get closed down they still go hard but the lesser lights step up.

Tomlinsin and Viney are big outs.

Well done Harmes. Petty was ok.

I still dont get the constant love for melksham.

If someone can point out when he got some votes this in the last two years ill shut up.

I dare you.

Maybe we are lacking depth but this bloke may have been good once but his drought is much longer than tmacs and hes never starred like tmac so its mystifying to me.

Anyway full credit to our boys that beat a very strong team that threw the proverbial sink at us. Especially May...Salem Oliver...Tmac..Spargo and Bbb.

No tx to the umps.

I would have had Langford as BOG tonight. Fantastic effort throughout.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
