Talking to two ex AFL/VFL legends tonight,it was universally accepted that BOTH Choco and Adem Yze have had a profound influence on proceedings at MFC. Also might I add... Simon Goodwin would have to have bought into the fact that these guys would and  should be able to work autonomously!!

I'm not going to get carried away because we will probably lose to Hawthorn next week, but it was clear as day Goodwin wasn't walking as tall as he was when he first came in. He looked tired and frustrated. Felt like he lost his voice in a way.

Watching Choco and Yze back him up from the bench or around the huddle is going make Goody walk taller and find his voice.

It shows Goody's modern football capabilities, in that he can easily and successfully (so far), integrate high profile coaches onto his team.

Choco, Richardson and Yze, have fitted in well.

The game plan, with the ability to change gears and strategies is new to this team.

We aren't getting overrun and can withstand a barrage before taking over again.

Intelligent play, with the team apparently able to follow instructions.

As Petracca said post match, they have finally realised that individual brilliance is not consistent or sustainable enough to win flags.

They seem to all be working towards the same common goal for the first time in years, which can only be a result of Chocco and Yze

This is the key for me KM.

4th game in a row where the team has been challenged (often more than once) and responded. Would have been 4 losses in past times.

That's not a random outcome, Its now a trend. Esp last 1/4  accelerations

I could have told them that 20 years ago, would have saved a lot of pain.

the Filth will need a new Coach soon

Agreed!

Sign Mark "Choco" Williams to a long term contract.

I am glad the players are getting a long well with him too and learning a lot from all his experience.

To be a successful football club you need good quality football people. Recruiting Mark "Choco" Williams has been a fantastic result for the Melbourne Football Club and let us hope it pays off in the long run!

Well done Mark "Choco" Williams! Keep up the good work! Go Demons!

We have all mentioned it at times ad Nauseum over years.
Not exactly Rocket Science

it would be part of my address to the Players Day 1 if i was Coach

Apparently one of his training drills with #15 & #29 is to have them run and carry and deliver into the forward 50 using him driving a golf buggy as a target.  They have to land the ball on the roof of the buggy.  Genius!

OK, but there was no internet then, so it would have been impossible.

A bit complicated for footballers, isn't it? "as one what? wombat?" "there's a team function? which nightclub?"

Fantastic. External focus, game/fun, instant feedback. Great coaching.

Not to mention: how many times in the past have we seen the up and under, hit and hope kick inside 50 which left our forwards stranded and is a defenders dream? Everyone saw it but Chocco is the one to rectify it.

This is the biggest change this season, finally all this talent is starting to work together.

Still a long season ahead so lid firmly on, from here we should aim for top 4 if we roll the Hawks il start beliving the players are grounded enough to not get ahead of themselves.

Don't know how many times i've made the suggestion to the war office that he would be "a great get for the Demons" and "he's sitting there being wasted (not for those players at the club obviously but in an AFL sense) at Werribee.

I was keen on getting him in, along with Roos, as replacement for Neeld 8 years ago.

Their loss, our massive gain.  What a great get and a fabulous resourse / asset to have.  So much experience to pass on and with a no nonsense, down to earth empathetic manner that i'm sure many of the players can relate to.

Choco is a true blue footy legend and i couldn't be more thrilled to have this bloke at the club.

Great get by the MFC.  A big ty to whoever was responsible.

Yes, there's an accident on the Monash affecting all outbound traffic from the Forster Road exit. There's congestion on the Westgate near Kororoit Creek Road. Seek alternate routes. And if you have home renovating needs, all carpets, floorings and furnishings are on sale this weekend at Harvey Norman. That's SEN Traffic.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
