Thank you Darren! You’ve helped take the players to another level and I don’t just think it’s fitness wise either. I think you’ve helped them mentally as well.

Best of luck for the future and hope you love being around the kids more.

Looking forward to Selwyn getting amongst it.

PS if we have a heap of injuries let’s not just jump on this Burgo has left/Selwyn has no idea narrative.

Barrett bailed him up about it after the game - he said he recently made the decision after exploring all the options.

And it was his best mate Greg Stafford who got him across!

As the saying goes “it takes village to get the village to be able to have power running mids”…

Selwyn is taking Burgo's role. He's been following him closely all year and knows all the planning and structures in place to keep the players in top condition. Apparently the players will be even fitter next year as we peak in fitness.

Selwyn was a former sports and conditioning coach at Brisbane, so he's not new to the role. He also has an Osteopathy background.

Yes I've heard Selwyn was highly rated at Brisbane and so was a good get.  You seem to know how it works...  Does that mean someone will replace Selwyn's role?  I imagine with Burgo moving on some decent coin will be freed up in the soft cap?

Cheers, Burgo. He was a pivotal get, and I’m fairly sure he’s left his methods behind. I once heard him say that the medical and performance team at MELB is the best he’s ever worked with.

You'd think they'd have a pic of him in Adelaide gear by now ... would probably annoy some Crows supporters seeing him in mfc gear

Youve triggered a thought. Why don’t support staff like at least coaches and assistant coaches get Premiership medallions. People like Burgess deserve them just as much as well.

One of the great things about the NHL Stanley Cup is they engrave virtually every member of the winning organisation on it. assistant coaches, video analysts, physio’s, team owners etc

"They (Melbourne) were obviously the best in the competition at doing that with their defence and we're looking to emulate that in the way we're playing."said Crows Ruckman, Reilly O’Brien

First time I’ve ever heard of a team wanting to emulate us. It feels good

Burgess is listed as "High Performance Manager", so this role would be under Burgo, I'd say.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
