Great news, thanks.

Very happy that seating in the Redlegs area is possible.  Not fussed about the actual seat, more the location:  good views and protected from the rain and wind.

I have told you before I will not be attending any public large crowd events until the majority of the population is vaccinated. That is 2021. For better or worse I have been a member almost all years since 1973 and a supporter since 1961. I figure I have been a very loyal member of a club that is not very easy to follow. IMO once a clubs numbers get too high the benefit to the individual reduces to the point you are no better off than a non member. What is that number? In my view  somewhere above 50k. Now you can keep dropping the glass half empty barb as long as you like but it will not change my view of when I want to belong to a sporting club.

2022 for second doses I would say

I’m getting the AZ at work this week. Health setting, non clinical.

at the infection rate in Australia and yes even Victoria, old dee, your chances of catching COVID right now are actually incredibly thin.

For Europe and North America, vaccines are needed to flatten the curve, get things under control, reduce the death rate. It's literally a matter of life or death. They badly need to vaccinate.

Vaccines with Australia and much of Asia is mostly about establishing travel bubbles and simply enhancing protection in the region. It's less a matter of urgency and there is a reason why vaccines are so hard to come by in the southern hemisphere: we just aren't as desperate as a UK or Italy or even Israel surrounded by heavy hit Middle Eastern nations. For us it's almost a matter of convenience, to further enhance our protection and our health care workers. But for harder hit nations it's a matter of necessity.

My strong advice is to start living your life because there is every chance second dose majority won't be for another 12 months in Australia. See you at the G next week.

Most of that may be true Praha and like you I don't share the government's Rosie forecast on when the vaccinations will be  completed. However I am in kill zone and while there is any chance I am not taking it. TV for me in 2021.

Dr I don’t think any of the regular 30k+ members or people on here pay their membership because of the benefits of getting into games being their major reason. I have paid my membership year in year out no matter what. I have paid it when I was  unable to attend more than a few games. I paid it this year when I doubt I will go to a game this year. I don’t buy my membership on the basis of what I get. If that were the case I would have stopped paying 25 years ago. As my age mounts there will be a point where I  will lose interest. When the membership get regularly above 50k I figure I will not be needed any longer.

You'll always be needed od, you're a red and blue diehard like the rest of us

Nice of you to say Dr. But everyone reaches a point where time catches up with you. 2021 had better be a good year.

That's disappointing.  You pay quite a premium for reserved seats and to lose that right is fairly ordinary.

One would think the ticketing company could program it so that the reserved areas are kept for those members - not necessarily get your 'designated seat' for Home games but at least be in those area which are better located in many ways.

Not sure I want to risk a seat in the rafters or exposed to the elements from a random computer allocation.

Read the latest email on membership bar code no's etc and also look at the reserved seat email and ring membership if you have any questions

You are going to get the same reserved area but just not necessarily your reserved seat.

You can book up to 6 tickets ( individual bar codes required )To sit together  in your area.

But ring the Club membership Dept for conformation.

I hate having to bag the club, but the system for renewing/upgrading memberships is crap. I've tried the phonelines several times over the past couple of weeks, but can't get through, so I've tried to upgrade my membership via the website, but it puts the wrong membership in the cart. Jesus Harry Christ, you'd think they were trying to beat us off with a ****ty stick!

I've now written an email, requesting a call back, but want to cc Gary Pert - does anybody know his email address at the club?

The clubs hands are partly tied on this matter as they, like all AFL clubs, have to use the TicketMaster membership platform rather than being able to build their own.

Fair enough, but still you would've thought they would have their phone system sorted? It just gives me the irrits that, despite the constant inconsistency and short-comings of the team each year, we're still trying to renew our support but they can't work out an effective system. Sounds a bit like the on-field team!

Get the rollover each year plan and in Sept/Oct the year prior your member  ship is Easily and efficiently renewed with texts and email plus the monthly payment plan I subscribe to.

That way there is no issues now When all Membership  staff ( assuming more than one left) are super busy also Ticketmaster as well.

Only major issue is now the ticketing for each game which once done is same virtually every game.

Hi, I signed up last week and was told I'd be emailed by barcode yesterday. I didn't receive an email so called today on the main membership number. I read the horror stories on this page about not getting called back so decided to just stay on hold until I spoke to someone.

However after 40 minutes of hearing hold music there was new audio saying please leave a message - but then another message saying you are unable to leave a message as the mailbox is full.

Any advice/other numbers I can call? If I don't get the barcode this afternoon I won't be able to sit with my friends who are booking seats later today when they become open.

Not sure if this will work but if you’re still stuck, go to the MFC site (mobile site) and click those little 3 lines on the top right then scroll down to tickets option. It then takes you to a page where you can click ‘ Your Barcode’ followed by My Melbourne Football Club account page. It asks for your email or create account. Might be able to access your barcode that way.

I’m unable to post a link to that page for some reason, hope the above makes sense.

Thanks, I've logged into that page but it's just blank in the barcode section and says contact club.

The issue is I have MCC as well and so paid the $220 to upgrade to dual Premium MCC/MelbFC membership so this year I can sit with friends who only have MFC membership (other years I could just walk from MCC to sit in general admin with friends but because of COVID you can't do that anymore). I should have just forked out the $239 for the Dees membership. I'll get the barcode eventually but it's just a pain they can't email it to me within 5 days, bit of a joke.

The LOBSTER EFFECT Ring the Melb FC phone no select admin  and ask If there  is any chance to be put through to Membership Because of the time constraints, etc.  It might just work !!!

Good luck !!!

Ok I sent a cranky email (was going to cc Gary Pert guessing at his email address but I resisted) and it worked, as they just emailed me my barcode with an apology.

Good stuff. Now just need a good match on Saturday!

I’m good thanks 58er, was just putting my 2 cents in with Lobster’s issue..I had my fun with the membership department yesterday. Gave them a call for an enquiry, was on hold for a while due to ‘extremely’ high level of calls, eventually I took the call back option and within 20 minutes they called me back, problem was it was just a recorded message asking me to re-enter my phone number and when I did that the machine lady thanked me for contacting the club and hung up on me.

It’s just a messy time unfortunately and I can understand people’s frustrations, just have a look at what we have to go through to get entry for a R1 home game.

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
