Lever looking terrific. Seems to have put on some bulk too.

His first quarter was dreadful. 3 turnovers in a row. Did lift a lot in the second

One thing I'm happy with is the new manning the mark rule doesn't seem to be an issue.

Originally I was annoyed as it was another rule change for the sake of it, but it has definitely increased the flow of the game.

Still dislike Hocking though....

What the hell is wrong with you people we are playing the premiers and are only down by 7 points.

And one more thing - Harmes everywhere running his [censored] off - he's in our best three so far today - ignore other commentators.

Not sure about best three, but he has been pretty good. As you say working hard and created a goal from nowhere with his effort and then good kick to Jones.

Intersting that he is on ball.

Really, you'd have to say if he can't get a game as a mid he doesn't have a spot given how out of sorts he looks down back.

I can see how the rule allows for speeding up and opening up the game. My only concern is that I fear it will cost us a game at some point.

Happy with Spargo keeping his feet, much stronger. happy with Harmes Lever and Tommy. not happy with Jones missing easy marking targets across ground. Too many observers only watching us, we aren’t too bad.

From a very small sample, we seem to be adding an additional short link-kick with this new rule. Ie two smaller kicks to get back in the corridor instead of one slightly longer kick. I think that is smart given our turnover history

I think we can see a clear change in game plan. We are looking to go into the corridor far more than previous years. Whilst our disposal has been a bit off at times creating turnovers, it looks great when it comes off.

If we can get a bit cleaner I think this bodes real well with our pace off the half back and wing.

Are we down by 7-8 goals? Sorry at work so not watching the game.

There ain't much to excited about. unfortunately. Jordon OK. Lever and May not bad.

Salem, Oliver and Petracca haven't  touched it. Gawn and Harmes turn it over.

Half time scores

Demons 40*

Tigers 41

*Edited. Maxy just nailed a lovely set shot

Trac and Oliver in the bounce and we win the clearance, then shot on goal. I’m truly shocked.

We are not over using the ball and seem to be going quite direct.

A few bombs into to forward line.

Would like to see us change the angles as we move through the midfield.

We are taking a few marks.

The smalls are finding space.

Too easy for Richmond as they come out of our forward area..

the premiers missing four of their best side too - Rioli, Prestia, Lambert, Houli

all injured or being rested? i know prestia has had hamstring issues this preseason, but no idea re others

we're seven of our best 22 down - Melksham, Hibberd, Viney, Brayshaw, Brown, Weideman, Pickett

and we're now a solitary point down after max gets a free and converts from 50

Gawn starring today.

Ripper mark and set shot for his second. Has taken plenty of goal saving marks too.

Liking the look of Chandler. Held his own in a two on one, won the free kick, and nailed the pass to Fritsch in the pocket.

If JFK had Fritsch’s hair he’d still be with us.

Chandler is doing alright.

Could play round 1 based on today.

Somewhere we’ve hit the front with a Fritta set shot.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
