Pic #15 - Melksham at training. Hammy injury seemingly mild if that is the case...

Either Melksham is doing his rehab and out for 3 weeksย or Tom Browne was wrong.

It surely can't be the latter.

He also just had a baby.

Understandable then if he didn't train. My wife assures me childbirth is pretty draining

Looks like @picket fence got there too late to see the Forwards and Mids.

Clearly, he will need to set his alarm clock for much earlier in future.ย  Simply not good enough to let us down like that!ย  he should give himself a good slap!

With the new standing the mark rule. I can see teams using players with pace i.e. Bowey and Hunt as runners off half back taking a handball and running. The player on the mark canโ€™t even attempt to block it.ย

would anyone care here if Laurie and Bowey played round 1 ahead of melksham, hibberd, Jetta etc?

Bowey in the backline.ย  Wonder if he has been identified as the Jetta replacement or a different kind of role?

They drafted him with theย idea of him being our Caleb Daniel.

Yes Me I doubt they are up to senior level standard for game 1

I reckon Bowey could well line up in our defensive 7 in the early rounds.ย  we need speed, kicking skills and decision making and he seems to have those

But shirley Hunt plays fwd. especially with Melk and others injured

Don't call him shirley!

Interesting to see Neitschke with the mids, I couldโ€™ve swore he was a defender when he was drafted

i doubt it. from what i've seen of him he looks a winger/flanker type.

Maybe a role like Salemโ€™s which lets Salem push onto the wing?

Remember when we played the kids early for years on end and never got any better? Letโ€™s no repeat that as a philosophy.

I expect Laurie will be. Iโ€™m not sure weโ€™ll put a 175cm 70kg defender out in round 1 unless he impresses in the scratch games.ย
ย

Jetta and Hibberd are competing with others for a back pocket spot. Melksham was training with the mids. Thereโ€™s others that they are competing with for spots anyway.ย

yeah Bowey might be able to release Salem for a bit of that.ย i think Bowey will endย up on the wing eventually once his running is up to it.

Salem will never move to the wing. Itโ€™s a gut running position that doesnโ€™t suit his game which is elite distribution out of traffic. The aim should be to move him on ball but we need 2 more additions to the half back kicking ranks before we move him not 1. And we need to clear some of the midsย out.

In the meantime we can hopefully get Salem and some combination ofย Bowey, Lockhart, Rivers and evenย Hunt providing rebound. Richmond use the trio of Houli, Short and Baker to constantly countering with pace and skill.ย

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecastโ€”20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze โ€” expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking. ย We filled our boots with percentage โ€” now a whopping 520.7% โ€” and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourneโ€™s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
