Are these games televised?

No.

The club might do a live stream at best.

  • Whispering_Jack changed the title to Richmond v Melbourne: Practice Match - Weekend 1 (February 25-28)
  • Demonland changed the title to Practice Match vs Richmond (Feb 25-28)

The stream last year against Nth Melbourne was great- hopefully they can arrange it again.

And they also did a pretty good stream the year before against Collingwood at Olympic Park.

Fingers crossed we can get another.

We will get a live stream for sure.  Whether that be via the Demon or Tigers website or both.

lol, you always say stuff like that, as if we actually learn something from being mauled by a premiership contender. ?

As always, it's the young kids I'm most interested in. Also to see who is played on the left wing opposite Langdon and whether any of our new coaches has made a difference to our inside 50's.

Best way to find out anything is to play good teams. We need to plan to beat them, not just be “competitive”

It's a practice game. The coaching staff will say the result is unimportant and that we needed to work on our set plays/game style/inside 50 "connections" etc.

I'd take a win any time, but mostly hope for zero injuries and a look at the kids.

A three day practice game should sort out the fitness levels anyway.

I hear you, but our list has to learn how to beat opponents, not just turn up and put in a good performance,  our kids will only get better once they know what pressure is

My well placed Tigers source said there will be a 6 quarter scratch match vs the Tigers this Thursday at Casey.

Thanks mate.

Spalding suggested that the game at Casey may be on this Thursday so he's the man to speak to.

Sorry for the bum stead.

when I questioned my mate about an exact time, he says it was “delayed” - whatever that means (maybe it still is the 25th).

apologies again - I hope no-one had already made plans.

we don't even know how many players will be used. a bit hard to predict a line up. also, who really cares. There's a few guys with niggles etc. which means they may or may not play. All I care about is the new draftees, no-one else.

B: LOCKHART, J.SMITH, JETTA

HB: BOWEY, PETTY, RIVERS

C : ROSMAN, JORDON, BAKER

HF: LAURIE, MCDONALD, NEAL-BULLEN

F: PICKETT, WEIDEMAN, SPARGO

FOLL: JACKSON, SPARROW, JONES

IC: HUNT, HARMES, FARMER,  D.SMITH, BEDFORD, BRADTKE, CHANDLER, NEITCHSKE

It's a pretty alternative team but I think they will play most of their reserves players in this one and play a much stronger side against the Bulldogs.

If it is a six quarter match surely there will be a large number of players involved. In fact you would think the majority of the list would get a couple of quarters each.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
