I was able to spend more time with the kids which has been a real silver lining. In all other respects its been a year to forget.

Hopefully the Dees can finally get their act together in 2021 and who knows maybe land that elusive flag.

Sometimes fortune or misfortune is all in the eye of the beholder,  there are always two sides, sometimes more sides to every story.

To me 2020 started off with very high hopes to complete a lot of personal stuff and to "move on".  Footy as well. Then Covid !

Now we are back at square one for many of us, just a wasted year very little achieved for some.

So I say as well

I hope your 2021 is much better,      for everyone.       Best wishes and better fortunes to us all.  Come on Dees !!

The hardest thing  I find is to think positive about 2021 and I don't mean football. The world has change and I may never again see like it has been all of my life .

I hear you brother.

My 2020 started ok, but got progressively worse as the year went on.  Living in Brisbane, working in a professional role and for a company moderately impacted, COVID wasn't a big thing for me.  Missing finals was a 'very ordinary' way to end our, season, but was a pleasant experience compared to some of the personal hell I've been through over the past few months.

Mate of mine suggested that instead of new years eve parties, everyone should have a f#@$ off 2020 party on Jan 1 and that sounds like a dam good idea to me.

When you thought it couldn't get any ****tier than fires, floods and pestilence, 2020's final gift to me mid December, was a kidney stone.  As it turned out, that was a backhanded blessing, as the CT scans detected a growth on the kidney, so my 2021 will begin with a biopsy and then who knows what!  I'm with Diamond Jim... can we just skip forward to 2022.

Worse case is you end up with I kidney. My dad live for 30 years with only 1. Good luck mate.

I hope that 2021 is a better year for you Wrecker 45. I usually say "This is going to be the best year ever!" Little did I know.

Yes OD, I'm expecting that is what will happen, but if I live another 30 years on one, I've just about hit the ton, so I'm not sure I want it to be quite that effective ?

Thanks mate... I'm pretty certain it's something, just what it is, I'm not yet sure.  In the words of a former coach, "it is what it is". ?

We both need our football club to fire up. Finals in 2021 would be a good start.

Funnily enough, I'm quite confident that we will make finals (and possibly top 4) this year.  Still not quite so confident that we'll get to attend many games that involve regular sized crowds; I doubt we'll see normality return until a vaccine has been distributed to the 70% or 80% (I think it is) of the population (I think that is the point at which the risk is supposedly mitigated).

You are more confident than me Hardtack. I doubt I will see a game live in 2021 because in spite of what the feds say I cannot see us getting the vaccine any time soon. But my objective this year is be alive at the end of it. We are in the kill zone and I am being super conservative about where I go in 2021 and crowds are off the list.

I don’t have an excess of years so sadly I would prefer not to lose one DJ.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
