If true I'm personally very disappointed - we will get SFA in return and they should have tried him done back as a last resort

We have a relatively short list and can ill afford to lose another player above 195cm - he has the skills - there are plenty that don't

Poor decision to keep persisting with him as a permanent forward once Brown came to the club. Should have been tried in defence through 2021/2022 and / or in place of Jackson as a ruck / forward in the back end of 2022.

Ultimately that's 3 depth players we have lost for nothing in this period - we desperately need to add some ready made players before round 1.

They didn't. It was about that time that Weid started playing much more ruck.

Yeah I agree 

 Daw , Mitch Brown, Weideman , Rosman and LJ all gone only Grundy coming in. 
 

We need some more Rucks and Key Forwards , but only have pick 13 as a significant draft pick this year ? 
 

We really do need a Schache type player/s or another tall with some experience that can play a role if injuries occur ! We surely have a plan not just to rely on young draftees to fill the list spots

At the end of the day, we only know 'some of it'. I'd gamble that the Club, its hierarchy and its functionaries have one or two ideas for players' replacements (or betterment as best 22) still in the wings of silence, no leaks, reducing outside competition and favour. There is no point declaring intentions too broadly, too early. It's a long time until kick-off, 2023; therefore, let's get the current pillars of stone fit, angry, hungry and committed to winning the Flag next year - and at all costs, develop and be imaginative.

We've got 8 players that didn't play in our finals' teams that should be ready to go next year - Laurie, Bowey, JVR, Howes, JJ, Chandler, Woewodin and Turner.  That's not counting D.Smith, McVee and AMW who can all improve with another year in the system.  They'll either get opportunities or leave like Bedford.

We also had Tomlinson, TMac, Dunstan and J.Smith not in the 22.

Our depth is not as dire as you make out.

The way E play to 2mtr Peter will mean that Weideman could kick in excess of 40 goals next season given the right structures

I wonder if we're still seeking a third rounder and if so, why?

That’s true, but in those players you have listed there is not much ruck / key fwd depth there anymore

Agree if, as expected, Weed goes then we'll need some ruck/fwd depth added.

Picked a few teams to look at as to a talls list comparison. Top, bottom, and middle of the comp, plus us. Arbitrary cut off at around 6.5ft. Possibly some errors. And yes, I haven’t heard of half of these blokes either. But . . .

You'd be correct if T Mac and BBB didn't have huge question marks on their durability. There is also question marks on whether Grundy and Gawn can play as forwards.

As it stands, when it comes to KPFs, we are pinning our hopes on JVR, who hasn't played a game. 

Weid didn't address our KPF issues because he wasn't good enough. But he did show something as a ruck/fwd at Casey. And we do lack ruck depth.

I'd feel a lot more comfortable with our KPF depth if we committed to Petty up forward next year. Then there's no pressure to play a half cooked BBB or T Mac every week.

With all the wrist slashing re our list it is not for us to worry about.Fairly sure our list managers ,coaches,etc are aware of our needs on our list more so than us supporters.So just trust them to get it right

We have got that Petty option, I'm in the camp that he saves more goals than he can create. But it's definitely an option with Tomlinson and Turner in the wings.

I think we need to see where TMac and BBB are at over summer and leading into next year.  We probably need 2 of TMac, BBB and JVR available each game for the next 2 years.  If we get 100 games out of the 3 of them across that period then Petty can stay back.  I should add that we need to recruit another ready to go KPF by the end of that period - I think that's possible - we can clear cap with outgoing players and we have a strong future draft hand.

I'm probably more disappointed in losing Weideman then I was with Jackson.

I think as supporters we've been far more emotionally  invested with Weids. We've all wanted him to make it but at times been extremely frustrated with his on field performance. 

I think a fresh start will do him well and he's been super gracious his whole career especially this year and last year.

Fairly sure our selection policy is garbage.   Simon has to learn to make changes week to week and within games.

Got great confidence in our list managers, not so much on the coaching front. As a team we show little flexibility or flare, i think a lot of that is down to coaching/game plan.

Most coaches currently would do great with the talent on our list.

Supporters are not aware of our list needs?  Would actually question this, many here seem to have a good grasp on our needs when it comes to the types of players we require.

The reason he didn't get tried back is he would need to be able to take an intercept mark and that is unlikely.

 

Good luck Sam, you were a loyal clubman and had some great moments 2018 finals will live forever in my memory. Good luck at the bombers, sadly I think you’ll be more than handy for them as they’ll play you in your best role, 3rd forward/ruck. 

For MFC I don’t understand this. We are now two soft tissue injuries to players over 29 (Gawn + Grundy) from TMac and BBB being our rucks. This year our ruck depth was thin but we had Daw and Weideman, the latter playing 2nd ruck relatively well against Brisbane. Now we have an injured TMac who hasn’t played back up ruck in years, BBB with his degenerative knee and a second year player in JVR who shouldn’t be played in the ruck but had to be in the second half of the season at VFL level due to our lack of depth. We better have a plan to bring in at least one more back up ruck. So much for learning from our mistakes and resting Gawn/Grundy throughout the season to have them cherry ripe for finals. Yikes.
