Peter Wright really hasn't shown much.

May come on but may go the way of Daniel Gorringe.

GCS was a mess for the first part of his career up there.  Nonetheless he has played some excellent games.  Hasn't had a clear run it and fell out of favour with Dew.

Will benefit greatly from a more positive environment, altho must say not sure that is Essendon.  At least there he will get regular games to show what he can do.

For Essendon if they're getting the 2017 model who kicked 32 goals as forward ruck.

For GC if they're getting the 2020 model who failed to play a game in a poor side despite being highly rated.

As per my post above.  Dew just seemed to refuse to play him.

With all the AFL assistance with draft picks and draft free priority zone selections the can afford to offload players for peanuts.

I think he will do well at Ess so they are more likely to get the 2017 version.

Adelaide have sent us a 2nd (pick 33) and 3rd round pick (pick 50) for our future 2nd and 4th round pick.

Tallied together that's 836 points ~ Pick 22. Is that North's price for Ben Brown?

I would offer the Dogs 26 and 33 for 14. Preuss pick from GWS should be enough for Ben, if not add the Hannan pick coming our way.

I'd be willing to bet that pick 33 will get the deal done for Ben Brown.

Agreed

A bit like the 'fire sale' of Jack Watts. If 33 for Ben Brown happens then it's a fairly similar result.

33, 43 and 53 is more points than pick 14.

I think we'll go a points swap with the dogs to get their first rounder, then use a future pick to get Brown.

Maybe we could give Roos the Preuss pick if that ever eventuates.

So we have

2020 - 2nd rd 26,33 3rd rd 43,50 4th rd 68,69

2021 -1st round, 3rd round , 4th round (Lions)

2020 #33 likely to be used for Brown.

Still awaiting news on Preuss (and Tmc) trade news. Really want that 2020 Rd2 pick 31 off Giants for Preuss.

Ok. So get 14. Then use Preuss pick from GWS say 31 for Ben Brown. So we have 14,68,69. A gun and then two absolute smokeys/stab in the dark type picks.

The Gorringe comparison is pretty close to the mark.
Someone on Demonland commented a while ago that if Wright didn't have a catchy nickname, no one would know who he has.

A mature age, key position forward who can't get a game with a bottom of the table team.  He's very, very overrated when you look at his onfield output.

Future first and pick 50 - North for Ben Brown and pick 25

then flick some of those second rounders to clubs for first rounders if they need points.

if we could get Ben Brown and a couple of decent picks that's a good result.

We can't trade our future 1st unless we get one back or a future 2nd back.

Didn't know that.

Has any club done that?  I recall that Hawks and Geel received an exemption to take a pick in the 4 year window but that is different to your suggestion.

Would imagine a club needs a very good reason.

I think it's theoretically possible, but as you suggest you'd need a good reason. i think there would be a good chance the AFL would feel it wasn't needed to get the deal done.

I suppose if we got a future second for Preuss we could theoretically do it?

How about just pick 50, North don't want Ben Brown they made that clear to him.  The guy is damaged goods, he is to North what Tmac is to Melbourne

Both have injury concerns and have been no where near their best for a while.  Tmac had the ability to get up the ground more where Brown is purely a hit up leading Full Forward.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
