For those interested I am hearing that we’d be very keen to have a chat to Adam treloar. If the pies are willing to pay a decent chunk of his salary we’d see him as a fit on the opposite wing to Langdon.

In terms of a player I reckon he's a lot of what we need and would make us a way better side. But he's got a salary of 900 k for the next 5 years!   unless the pies were willing to pay 300 k or so for the duration of his contract how does it get done? Do you know if we can renegotiate that contract with him or if we have to take it over?

Maybe if TMac went to them and we didn't have to pay his salary.

Think it's horrendous the way he has been treated by Collingwood... would love him at the dees but would be a little concerned about those hamstrings esp at such a high price.

More from Ricky Nixon -

• Adam Saad was spotted having lunch with David Teague Carlton coach and football director of the club - talks that deal is most likely be done either today or tomorrow ... looks like it will cost Carlton an early pick and/or a player such as McGovern

• Josh Dunkley believed to be spotted this morning with Essendon officials at a cafe near Tullamarine ... he wants to go there but how many coffees with Essendon staff can you have - get in with it

Adam Treloar talks going nowhere fast at the moment with two clubs in the race - the Bulldogs and Gold Coast with Gold Coast questioning about his movements again today and Bulldogs officials have asked to meet with Treloar. His management have spoken to Richmond not the other way around - stay tuned got the feeling it could a very late trade ... also total [censored] that Bucks told Treloar his teammates didn’t want him at the Club

• Jesse Hogan off to GWS after Richmond went cold on the money he wanted and the potential problems he brings

• Essendon have put a deal on the table for Stefan Martin - talk is believed to be two year deal as playing assistant coach mentor.  The Bombers smashing this trade period. Great get if they get him

• Paddy Dow discussions going around Essendon asked for a swap with the Saad deal and talk Fremantle are making huge late change for Paddy talk they have put late four year deal on the table for him.

• Jack Silvagni three clubs linked to him North Melbourne Fremantle GWS all showing little interest on him but most likely looking like he will stay at Carlton talk is he’s not happy with the club after they delisted his younger brother Ben.

• Brody Mihocek looking like he will stay resign with Collingwood with three-four year deal on table round $550-600K year ... not new news but Collingwood need to start pulling out some deals

• Jack Higgins from Richmond set to have meeting with St Kilda officials this afternoon.

• Shaun McKernan deal looks set to be done soon with St Kilda.

• Peter Wright from Gold Coast talks Collingwood is the huge favourite to lure him over.

• Oscar McDonald brother of Tom been linked to Essendon and North Melbourne.

• Dom Sheed from West Coast Collingwood and Carlton keen on him looks like he will stay West Coast

• I’m hearing Adelaide next year have put six year deal on the table to Matt Crouch end of next year.

• Quinton Narkle despite being linked to WA clubs North Melbourne have shown interest in him the last 24hrs

• Melbourne Cup tip # 6 Twilight Payment

From what I am hearing, I don't expect much to be moving on trades for the MFC until there is a bit more clarity with regards to the Big Macs possibilities and what might eventuate with Preuss.

I believe that we have looked at Treloar and it is all a bit messy between him and The Filth. Not sure when/how that will all play out.

I don’t know anything. It was in response to a request for a riddle.

it appears no interest in Phillips.  HeraldSun reporting Dees going with Baker as winger next season since missing out on Smith.

Seems strange, although with the club not leaking over the last few years I would think we have something going on

is it that we dont leak, and obviously the other parties we potentially talk to dont leak as well or that we dont have very much to leak about.

Club will be aggressive. We will have a future first round pick to trade out plus several picks we'll be able to package together which we receive from our departing players. I would be very, very surprised if Brown is the only best-22 addition we add this off season.

Need Phillips if we're making that trade.

Don’t believe it.

I've heard Bitters is ready to switch teams the moment he arrives in Thailand.

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

And just like that, we’re Narrm again. Even though the annual AFL Sir Doug Nicholls Round which commemorates the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture to our game has been a welcome addition to our calendar for ten years, more lately it has been a portent of tough times ahead for we beleaguered Narrm supporters. Ever since the club broke through for its historic 2021 premiership, this has become a troubling time of the year for the club. For example, it all began when Melbourne rebranded itself as Narrm across the two rounds of the Sir Doug Nicholls Round to become the first club to adopt an Indigenous club name especially for the occasion. It won its first outing under the brand against lowly North Melbourne to go to 10 wins and no losses but not without a struggle or a major injury to  star winger Ed Langdon who broke his ribs and missed several weeks. In the following week, still as Narrm, the team’s 17 game winning streak came to an end at the hands of the Dockers. That came along with more injuries, a plague that remained with them for the remainder of the season until, beset by injuries, the Dees were eliminated from the finals in straight sets. It was even worse last year, when Narrm inexplicably lowered its colours in Perth to the Waalit Marawar Eagles. Oh, the shame of it all! At least this year, if there is a corner to turn around, it has to be in the direction of something better. To that end, I produced a special pre-game chant in the local Narrm language - “nam mi:wi winnamun katjil prolin ambi ngamar thamelin amb” which roughly translated is “every heart beats true for the red and the blue.” >y belief is that if all of the Narrm faithful recite it long enough, then it might prove to be the only way to beat the Brisbane Lions at the Gabba on Sunday. The Lions are coming off a disappointing draw at Marvel Stadium against a North Melbourne team that lacks the ability and know how to win games (except when playing Melbourne). Brisbane are, however, a different kettle of fish at home and have very few positional weaknesses. They are a midfield powerhouse, strong in defence and have plenty of forward options, particularly their small and medium sized players, to kick a winning score this week after the sting of last week’s below par performance.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

There was a time during the current Melbourne cycle that goes back to before the premiership when the club was the toughest to beat in the fourth quarter. The Demons were not only hard to beat at any time but it was virtually impossible to get the better them when scores were close at three quarter time. It was only three or four years ago but they were fit, strong and resilient in body and mind. Sadly, those days are over. This has been the case since the club fell off its pedestal about 12 months ago after it beat Geelong and then lost to Carlton. In both instances, Melbourne put together strong, stirring final quarters, one that resulted in victory, the other, in defeat. Since then, the drop off has been dramatic to the point where it can neither pull off victory in close matches, nor can it even go down in defeat  gallantly.

  • CASEY: Footscray

At twenty-four minutes into the third term of the game between the Casey Demons and Footscray VFL at Whitten Oval, the visitors were coasting. They were winning all over the ground, had the ascendancy in the ruck battles and held a 26 point lead on a day perfect for football. What could go wrong? Everything. The Bulldogs moved into overdrive in the last five minutes of the term and booted three straight goals to reduce the margin to a highly retrievable eight points at the last break. Bouyed by that effort, their confidence was on a high level during the interval and they ran all over the despondent Demons and kicked another five goals to lead by a comfortable margin of four goals deep into the final term before Paddy Cross kicked a couple of too late goals for a despondent Casey. A testament to their lack of pressure in the latter stages of the game was the fact that Footscray’s last ten scoring shots were nine goals and one rushed behind. Things might have been different for the Demons who went into the game after last week’s bye with 12 AFL listed players. Blake Howes was held over for the AFL game but two others, Jack Billings and Taj Woewodin (not officially listed as injured) were also missing and they could have been handy at the end. Another mystery of the current VFL system.

  • PREGAME: Brisbane

The Demons head back out on the road in Round 10 when they travel to Queensland to take on the reigning Premiers and the top of the table Lions who look very formidable. Can the Dees cause a massive upset? Who comes in and who goes out?

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.
