Yep we’re going around in circles for decades... need to look at his people around him Swan inc assistants,  Our assistants are questionable & Richardson not sure what his role is & why we got him??? Wasn’t Roos his mentor for 2 seasons ???

He has had Roos McCartney and Richardson

He still needs his training wheels  Please get rid of this guy for the sake of the club and the team

My 22yo son is wishing that it’s a lions vs Port or WC gf so nobody he knows will be happy winning a flag... spoken like a true suffering mfc supporter!!

Brisbane may have had a dream run this season but they were top two last season and bombed out. They missed their opportunities. This season they are still making linear improvement. Something we failed to do after 2018. No reason to believe they don’t belong where they are. It’s all a matter of taking opportunities as they arise and they have taken the first positive step last night. Something MFC is still clueless about.

Hipwood showed Weideman how to impact a game without hitting the scoreboard last night.

Saints v Dogs

The two teams most would pick as the weakest in the 8. (Perhaps Pies would give them a run).

What luck to play each other.

Dogs for mine by around 12 points with lots of behinds kicked by both teams

Yes both early drafts  (Weid pick 9 and Hippy Pick 14 )both 23 years old

The Weid needs to come on his development  has been anything but linear

Needs a proper coach in my opinion

There is plenty of ability to work on but suffers from being at Melbourne perhaps

I'd be very happy with a Port v Brisse GF.  As for other comments on Brisse getting a great run at it this year, take every advantage you can.  None of it was their doing, blame covid.  They still had to win games which they have done for 2 years now.  They have a clear system they play to, we don't, we did for 1 season and then they changes the rules and it broke.

Brisbane winning the flag is the only way to make this season not a complete disaster.
So happy to see Geelong and Richmond lose first week of the finals. I am so done with these teams. Same goes for West Coast.

Interesting ....

It was a genuinely good game! One of the few I’ve seen this year that hasn’t totally made me wonder why I still bother with AFL.

You can see the clear drop off in skills and quality with this game. I’ve half switched off.

Managed to get a free ticket to the dogs v saints game. How lucki is that. Up in the bleachers but still good seats at the mini G.

nice! tight game but lacklustre on the box; how is it at the ground?

Losing to the Dogs this year was a terrible blight on the MFC

They are battlers (who have a go)

There's only one player on the ground with the surname Howard. So why do the commentators refer to him as Dougal Howard every time they call him?

Same with (Easton) Wood, (Caleb) Daniel   ...

Too much time on my hands?

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

As the focus of the AFL moves exclusively to South Australia for Gather Round, the question is raised as to what are we going to get from the  Melbourne Football Club this weekend? Will it be a repeat of the slop fest of the last three weeks that have seen the team score a measly 174 points and concede 310 or will a return to the City of Churches and the scene where they performed at their best in 2024 act as a wakeup call and bring them out of their early season reverie?  Or will the sleepy Dees treat their fans to a reenactment of their lazy effort from the first Gather Round of two years ago when they allowed the Bombers to trample all over them on a soggy and wet Adelaide Oval? The two examples from above tell us how fickle form can be in football. Last year, a committed group of players turned up in Adelaide with a businesslike mindset. They had a plan, went in confidently and hard for the football and kicked winning scores against both home teams in a difficult environment for visitors. And they repeated that sort of effort later in the season when they played Essendon at the MCG.
