We've got to try something in this space, so in lieu of other options, he might be worth a shot.

Definitely worth a shot as a cheap recruit. He was a rookie pick up who hasn't solidified a place in a team that's finished bottom four two years running. He'd come cheap with a token fourth round pick or the like. Has kicked a few bags so if he can keep developing and thrive in a new system then he could play a small forward role at AFL level IMO.

yeah like the thinking, would be cheap in terms of trade and has kicked multiple bags. Worth investigating.

He's had 2 really big games that inflate his figures, but in his last 20 games has only kicked 10 goals. While he's got some speed, I feel like he's a bit of a poor man's ANB, who happened to play 2 great games. He really looked great in early 2018, but hasn't been up to is since.

Reminds me of Simon Cuthbertson. Short and sweet.

Would that be Darren?

Round 6 1991 at VFL Park v Collingwood. Midpoint in a stellar purple patch. Young fella absolutely destroyed the pies. Seven dynamic goals. The Sun was shining...  a great day at the footy!

ps. Gary Lyon 100 games, Todd Viney BOG.

Had an impressive 2018 but didn't back it up. He's practically a Demon already.

What really bakes my potatoes about Ronke is that he laid ten tackles to go with those 7 goals. It would have to be one of the best single games by a small forward, ever. I can't recall but wasn't it also 7 goals, no behinds?

If it was the draft and we were talking about a kid who had only shown glimpses but those glimpses were the best TAC games ever, and he was still available in the third round...

For what it's worth I think his 2020 was written off by injury, take that as a positive that he hasn't had the chance to show maturity, or a negative that's he's buggered his hips or somethingand will never get back the agility he needs.

I say pick the kid up cheap and feed him to Burgess and see what gets spat out.

As it looks like we are likely to bag both Brown and Smith, any further trades will likely have to be for budget priced players. And as one of our needs (at least in my opinion) is a good crumbing forward, I'm hoping that the club will take a good look at Ronke.  He wouldn't use up much of the salary cap and if he is able to discover the kind of form he showed early in his time at the Swans, he's a very worthwhile investment.

Certainly worth looking at.

Couldn't be expensive as hardly played this year and Papley has committed to them long term.

for mine its between ronke, higgins and aarts. two tigers will be on minimal wage and didnt get a look in when it mattered most this season. aarts in particular as a late starter will want some security, we could offer two years vs richmonds 1 and suddenly its a deal. higgins too would want to maximise his contract length given his brain bleed so if there were any complications down the road he would be safe but i do think he's over them and it won't come back to haunt him.

i'd go higgins > aarts > ronke in order of preference there

aarts is the elder of the trio but looks the most 'ready to go'

Covid prevented many Demons fans from legally witnessing the victorious 2021 AFL Grand Final cup performance between the Demons and the Bulldogs, but we all grin when remembering those magnificent seven third quarter goals.
