give it a rest picket. Puss poor comment. Sledging a player and the club in 10 words.

Very surprised Viney finished so high and especially ahead of Oliver and Langdon.

Agree

For those wanting Jack out the door yet again he has finished in the top 10 of the B & F and as much as he frustrates me with his repeated flaws he is still in the top 3 of the club. I know he has a contract before him and cannot see Geelong who never pay overs matching it.

I didn't think him weird, he explained every time he gets on stage he goes blank. Cut him some slack I bet neither he nor his wife are getting lots of sleep at the moment. he stays!

Perhaps Goodwin & the Footy Department really aren’t the right guys.

Could be over-inflating his price for a trade.

You are not the only one??

He did have a few brilliant games. He was BoG against Eagles, was very good against the Saints, and probably a few others I’m forgetting. He has his limitations but he clearly always follows the coaches direction.

Reading this thread I understand why Dan Andrews has a 62% approval rating for the way he's handled the pandemic.

Melksham should be embarrassed finishing that low.  Outshone by so many younger less experienced teammates.  Terrible season from him.

Which pandemic is that? The one your boy Carlson thinks donnie has done such a bang up job dealing with?

But he was Captain in one game!! SURELY whoever thinks that this is satisfactory needs a reality check

Anyone who thinks J.V Had a better season than Clayton Oliver and Ed Langdon is fantasy land stuff. Yes played some solid games but not better than these two. Congrats Tracc and Steven May !

I thought that Maysie spoke quite well  and is a very humble person and was gracious . One part of his speech said that he thought  he was privileged  to finish so close to Christian such was his domination.

Well said Steven May you are a deserved winner youself and hope you go one better in 2021.  You are a champion person.

Probably just me but I find B and F awards in a failure year of little interest. It is probably a big deal for the players but as a supporter it is like celebrating mediocrity for me. Whoever wins it is no doubt a good player in the scheme of things, just does not work for me.

OD you are Salty at best and unappreciative at worst

The award winners are usually the ones that have busted themselves and trained and pre seasoned more diligently than  others and ream games sort out these players for mostly very well rewarded honours.

At what  stage would you call off No Finals ?

Only GF appearance. Doesn't work that way.

Yes you don't  have to turn online etc if you are not interested but FYI Trac won as he has deserved with one of the most rewarding and consistent A grade efforts this season playing some of the best footy a Demon  has this Century!

You would be the sort  of boss unless you made $2 billion profit you would cancel bonuses !!

Maximum points per game is 40 (4 coaches give each player a score out of 10), so  a 20 average would be the "pass" mark. Only Tracc and May bettered an average of 20. Probably fair enough.  The right players finished in the top 6.  I could quibble marginally about the order - I felt Oliver was better than Viney and Langdon and Gawny was down a bit on the last two seasons, and missed 3 games as well but I think those 6 players were significantly better than anyone else.

Brayshaw probably the biggest surprise for me.

Indeed , no way Viney deserved being rated higher than those two

The last 3 Jake AvB and Mitch are an embarrassment to themselves and the Club

That's exactly why we had such low scores and Forward  pressure As when the good players Didn't star or use the ball well like in Csirns also add Harmes thsts one reason why our forward line was well below par.

TIME TO FIRGET 2018 as donate pDt their best and we missed out trying Bedford and Dunkley and Jordan and don't know if they are a good!

Dunkley is unlucky but lists are tight.

Thsnking  Josh snd Corey Wagner fir full effort Plus Funks and all the best fir future.

Melksham, Tom McDonald, Lever and Tomlinson all experienced players all on good money all under delivering and costing us big time.

I noticed that Mahoney didn't present any of the awards.  Was he even there?

So first off, big congrats to Petracca. Outstanding year from him and he still has more levels to go to, I really hope he reaches his ceiling. If he does, he could be one of the best, if not THE BEST player in the league.

Secondly congrats to May, he had a diabolical 2019 which was largely his own fault. He owned his mistakes, and sought to rectifying it. 2020 was his best season ever and it can show how much of a difference a proper, professional pre-season can make.

Thirdly congrats to Langdon, he’s been a fantastic recruit and he’ll get better. Coming to a new club can be tough to jump straight in and make an impact. He’s done that. Well done to him and well done to the club for getting him.

Finally congrats to Oliver and Viney, both have been regular top 5 B&F places/winners. That they are there again is a credit to them, no matter what your personal opinion of either of them.

On that last part with Viney finishing 3rd. Yes it is a surprise to me as well, I would’ve definitely had Oliver above him, but what this also tells me is that there are things/roles in the game that we don’t see. I hope he stays, if Jones retires we will be losing a true Red and Blue warrior, to lose Viney as well would hurt our culture.

On a negative, seeing Melksham finish so low annoys me because he underperformed for almost the entire year but somehow managed to keep his spot (and even captain the club!!!). Extremely poor year from him but got free pass after free pass. I hope he gets given a rocket up his bum over the off season.

So every time he gets on stage he goes blank, he has said this? This reflects my understanding on why he is seen as a leader in how he plays and not a natural leader who motivates in game day. He has poor communication skills and doesn’t know how to communicate during games. He is a follow me leader, but that’s not enough to be a captain.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
