all of that

player cuts will depend a lot up list sizes, but of those out of contract, i'd presume the following will go:

  • aaron neitschke (at the least downgrade to rookie list)
  • austin bradtke
  • corey wagner
  • harley bennell (pending investigation)
  • josh wagner
  • kade chandler
  • kyle dunkley
  • oscar mcdonald
  • toby bedford

Jeepers, people are suggesting a lot of changes. 10 is a lot to go off your primary list at this stage in our evolution. Possible, I guess.

Quite possibly, although I had thought they'd done a bit of a back pedal on this. Anyway, we'll see.

It's not actually that much Adam if you look at the averages over the years. That said, if we're debating the future of Hunt then we're a long way ahead of when Newton was someone to discuss.

Re sign Smith? Well in that case l won't be paying his wages next season. The guy is clearly not up to it. No more than 5 possessions in all his games this year is not good enough. And don't suggest he is a good forward because he's been tried there before & done SFA.

When W ? And how many times ? Forward prey tell

Agree on your Coach  list W. Absolutely needed.

i would keep Toby and delist Hore, and Also save Harley in spite of his misdemeanour.

In a season without the benefit of vfl games I doubt Kade Chandler would be delisted

I would delist both Wagner's and both McDonald's.

Well it hasn't stopped North, Bombers, and Port delisting kids without any VFL games.

He'll get cut.

I don't see the need to cut rookies unless the AFL cut the list. It's a compromised weak draft so you would expect a weak rookie draft. I'd keep Chandler and Dunkley for one more year. If their was a year to keep most of your list intact this would be the year.

Bennell - get rid of him first, doesn’t deserve anymore chances Obviously doesn’t care about the MFC or his teammates

These blokes are lucky to have a frigging job

NOT if the list sizes are reduced to 35 as anticipated and directed by the AFL

The AFL will not slash list sizes, they will be reduced gradually, by about 2 this year and 2 next year and maybe 1 the third year, is my guess.

How many of them will be rookies?

I hear it’s likely to be 37 + 3 rookies.  That’s a reduction from 44-46 for most clubs do I think to see 10 blokes delisted is perhaps to be expected.

Dunkley, OMac?, Cwagner, JWagner, Joel Smith ?, Bradtke, Chandler, and ... unfortunately Bennell ??

Retire - Jetta?, Kk ?

thats 10 off the list  (down to 35)

who is in the fringes ???

1. I’m feeling compassion and I know I might be ridiculed but I’m giving Jonesy one more year.

2. Hannan and Spargo are just hanging on ... just

3. Bedford and Jordan are just hanging in for their development

4. Hunt and Baker saved themselves in the last 2 games and at least they’ve got pace which we lack

trade discussion - Preuss (Giants?) Neal-Bullen (Crows?) Tmac (anyone who is interested). I reckon ideally at least two trades here  (brings list down to 33)

probably will entertain a discussion about Sparrow but would love to keep him (Crows would need to give us their 2nd round pick circa pick 19).

List to rookie list - Nietschke (as promised )

I think the AFL will cut lists to 40 (37 plus 3 rookies)

I just cannot see Joel Smith staying in the list. He was pathetic on the weekend and seems lost. Sure he might be better as a forward imo but we have too many of that mid sized half forward types anyway.  Perhaps we failed in his development and another Goodwin failure casualty.

It is interesting trying to guess.  We have no line of sight on any of the list and what the coaches think without VFL action.  Before the last 2 weeks, Baker would have been on people’s chopping block, but now he is a ‘retain’.

People calling for Smith to get cut may not be on the same page as the coach - they selected him over and over again.  OMac?  Horses for courses sort of defender that may have lost his place to Tommo.  TMac?  What was up with the big fella?

Players like chandler, Dunkley and Nieshke may get rolled over if we can’t replace them with better options.  There is no use emptying the potato bucket just to refill it with different potatoes.  Every list change needs to lead to an upgrade.  If the demons have a style and a gameplan, then the players have to be fit for purpose for this.

Waiting to see who they cut first - the ones they believe have zero trade value (even for a late 4th rounder).  We don’t have to delist players before Oct 31 (end of contract time) I would have thought.

This is accurate.

Can I suggest retire our wonderful servant in dark times Nathan Jones. Perhaps a kept on in a coaching role .

Trade Melksham.

Delist Smith.

ANB a possible trade. One good game towards the end of the season isnt everything.

Despite the week of hell, losing 2 innable games the club seems in a position to certainly improve if we implement the above.

May and Trac have become what we hoped for.

Langdon is a star.

Much promise in Rivers and Jackson.

If we can find just ONE 40 plus ff and a good crumber than we will be lloking good.

Hopefully we will also have around 10 new players to pick from rather than shuffling the usual suspects.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
