maybe actually crunch all of the numbers first. The season ended against fremantle.

If we win, there are two scenarios where we still make it.

Sadly you are spot on. We have blown it

Wouldn't surprise anyone if either scenario happend below:

a) We get smashed by Essendon

b) St Kilda loses and we wallop Essendon but fall 0.001% short

This club only knows one way.

all chips in.  Must win and must win big...

Dont like making too many changes after a win but its all or nothing here....

IN - Hibberd for Smith; Harmes for Hunt; LJ for Brown; Lockhart for Jetta; Possibly add Bennell for ANB.

I would've thought Hibb for Jetta to cover off Tippa.  Him & Joe are always tearing us new one.  May should do the job on Joe here but i'd love to see Hibb come back in and do a number on Tippa if fit.

Minimise their scoring as much as possible to maximise our percentage gain.

Ins. Harmes Lockhart

consider if fit - Sparrow Hibberd

Outs. Neale-Bullen ? Jetta (shoulder?)

on the edge - Hunt  J. Smith

bombers dangers are

1- mids  Shiel. Merrett. Smith.  Parish.  Need to tag Shiel

2- forwards. Daniher stringer and mcg-tip-wuti.  May gets Daniher and probably put Tomlinson on stringer

3- backs. Saad for his run and Ridleys marking.  Need Melksham to “tag” Saad and have someone contest with Ridley across marking half back as he has the most defensive marks across the last month.

Assume Hooker and Heppell miss again.

Have to win it no matter what the Dogs do

fritsch's defensive game on haynes last week was awesome and very underrated especially on here. hes going straight to ridley first bounce. Hooker & hurley i think will be back in heppells had surgery.

Lockhart for jetta i think is a lock

it is true we shouldnt mess with a winning formula however matchups are important and therefore smith falls out for hibbo if fit

vanders misses out for harmes in a midfield role without brayshaw and jones in the side thats definitely a huge upgrade there

hopefully they leave it at that

brown has really performed and weid has had it tough with the big blokes he's had clamping and sitting on him for the last few weeks but it would be irresponsible to push LJ in if he's underdone in such an important game and with such a young prospect.

anb lucky that we won so he gets another game bennell has clearly been put on ice for the year and hannan isnt an upgrade so he plays

St Kilda Could lose by 20 points eg 60 vs 80

Demons win by 30 points eg 80 vs 50

and we would sneak past them!

So even if unlikely, not impossible!

Wrong.

If the saints lose by 25 points and we beat the Bombers by 25 wer'e in.

If we cant beat the bombers by 50 we shouldnt be in the finals anyway.

I'm not into betting, but the odds for the Saints  v GWS game is 1.48  vs 2.05.  That's line ball IMO . GWS are not without a good chance, especially with Josh Kelly back after a good run last week and new gun forward Jake Riccardi back after the rest and the skipper in after Camerons statement to him.

Is Luke Jackson even ready to play?

What has happened to Lockhart? I was a big fan of him. Seems to be on the outs and can't buy his way back in. What's the deal?

I'm just posting this now so I don't have to sit and read 6 months of "oh if we only beat Fremantle and sydney. we should've made finals. We're a rabble of a club" etc. Because all the optimistic supporters who care about a meaningless round 18 are going to be the same supporters complaining when we miss finals. I know them better than they know themselves.

By all means be annoyed we missed finals but at least do it at the point when it happened and that was against freo and syd.

We are not out of it yet, are we?    So what if we are,  so be it.   However Where there is life, there is hope.

You don't seem like a bad person just take the negativity away from your outlook.

Would be a mistake to ommit Brown BS.

Sadly bookies rarely lose when they have a side at $1.48

Yep, should have made a mess of both the Swans and Freo, but messed it up instead. Would be sitting a game clear in 6th spot right now with Essondon to come...

You don't know me at all. I'm pleased to say the only thing we appear to have in common is supporting MFC.

ANB is a lock because he brings fwd pressure and pretty good delivery.

Probably Hrmes in to provide some vigour.

I’d play Smith on Tippa.

Double amputation? Merely a flesh wound. Put a band aid on it.??

I'd bring back Locky as a genuine small not a medium To keep him honest,

Good game by Smithy prob his best do Maybe  the penny is dropping !!

Hibbo has had a pretty good year considering his private life but is not IMO nifty enough to mind Tippa who turns and twists on a small spot whereas Hobbo is a wide turning arc as he has to kick left foot all the time.

But Dr Meaningless it is a double possibility and not so rare as you think.

You are willing us to Not make Finals so  YOU Can criticise the Club all summer.

Generally your posts  are Negative dismissive and not balanced. While there is a mathematical chance live the dream and rejoice if it happens IF NOT we have got what we deserve 9th or 10th.

Yes But aren't those odds  a bit tight for a side who has lost 4 out of their last 5??

Fritta on Ridley like he quietened Haynes but hopefully 2/3 goals from him.

  • NON-MFC: Round 05

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

  • PREGAME: Essendon

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
