1. We beat GWS and Essendon
2. The Dogs lose one of their last two (Hawthorn and Fremantle)
3. GWS loses to Adelaide
4. St Kilda loses both of its last two games (West Coast and GWS)
5. Collingwood loses both of its last two games (GC and Port).

We would then finish on 9, as would St Kilda, the Dogs and GWS. Percentage would separate us through 6-9 on the ladder. If Carlton were to win out, it would also finish on 9 and would join the percentage battle.

Because there are three spots available, we can actually afford for a maximum of two of the above situations to not play out. On the probabilities, the least likely is GWS losing to Adelaide. But then we can only afford one more the above to not happen or we won't make it - so, for example, if Collingwood beats Gold Coast we then need the Dogs to drop a game, or vice versa.

Forget the mathematics. If we can't win these last 3 games then we don't deserve to be playing in the finals.

We should not be rewarded for our competition falling over.

I can't see it happening but hopefully GC put in one of their early season like performances and knock off the Pies. 

That would help us no end in our pursuit of getting in with 9 wins.

It's highly possible that St Kilda loses both games and we make up the required percentage provided our one loss isn't a belting.  St Kilda's close win yesterday was almost like a win for us.

GWS simply won't lose to Adelaide and the Dogs cant lose to Hawthorn or Freo. Beveridge is too good a coach to allow a slip up of that magnitude.

The Dogs winning last night really did reduce our options in getting in with 9 wins.

It is very windy and warm here in Cairns.  It should be cool enough by tonight and the wind should drop down after dark but you will want to kick a bag with the wind.

Looks like the game's over before it started.

The wind has to be blowing at less than 2km per hour for us to be any good.

Have stopped buying into this club.  The leadership still ordinary, the coaching bewildering and the list has too many inconsistent types who can’t kick.

Tom McDonald totally out of favour whilst on big coin.

Fremantle will go past us, as have other clubs while we continue to talk it up.  Goodwin has not met expectations and frankly how long?

I could not resist dc I worked it out.

We should win, with ease, but I'm sure we will play rubbish with no strategy and then get a run on at the end, a normal flat track bully game imo. But it will still prove, we are going nowhere under Simon. Must say, thanks to a lot of posters sarcasm has got me through lately, even the  positive posters are having a laugh!

Yes it is a lot happier and more positive  on here than living in Melbourne.

Yeah we are screwed.

We should never have been sent to play there anyway.  Had already done more traveling than any other team before we even got on the plane to Cairns.

Very worried about going in with two rucks, neither of whom have shown any forward craft.

On the flipside, it's good to see we've finally picked two genuine small forwards.

With so many changes each week, how do we even find continuity and connection that Goodwin speaks of? Totally unsettled and all over the place. 13 changes in 2 weeks and 17 in 3 weeks? A lot of these changes also weren't even close to the right ones either.

And despite lack of foot skills being our biggest glaring issue we don't bring in our best kick. 

And after picking the slowest dees side since Spud Dullard and Ray Biffen graced the team, and 90& of supports wondering why against young swans team who our skipper said in the lead up like to play fast footy, we have suddenly picked the fastest, against a team that moves the ball at turtle speed.. 

And the coach knows the problem. And is working on fixing it. Make no mistake the players want to win. And know that effort was not acceptable. This is not the Melbourne way (yes goody, it [censored] well is). We have an identifiable brand (that at least is true, but it ain't what you think). We will look to play our best team each week, cos we are super burgess fit. Until we don't. We will pick a side that want to win.
