Perfect example was Two hard attacks on the footy all to give away a free to start the second half. Goes for balls that are not his to go for. Interesting one time we roved to Gawn properly. Langdon on the wing at a ball up. Beautiful roving, just got caught.

Jack Viney should be played in the Forward Line. He is to one dimensional to play in the middle

There is a reason soldiers are trained to scream and yell when bayoneting.  It invokes primal aggression, gets adrenaline pumping, fine-tunes 4 billion years of evolutionary advantages that have seen countless generations of our ancestral tree get the better of their opposition.  All the massages, focus sessions and training in the world won't give you that killer edge on the field.  Nor will genteel addresses as a whiteboard covered in arrows.

Come on coach, give the players a fair-dinkum rev-up as they go out to play - get them up and ready!!!  So many key games in recent years we have completely bottled, coming out flat and a step slower than the opposition.  When is enough enough???

We are so predictable. Why do I ever get my hopes up happens everytime

Perhaps we should have flown up yesterday. Maybe it was a covid issue. We never had a look in. So many players just wanting to give it up with hang time handballs too easy to intercept.

The lack of chasing was disgraceful.

Maybe deep down on some sub cockle level we kinda thought this would happen.

Its the blinding passion and my own fault for thinking we were final contenders.

We beat 3 bottom teams, got smashed by the dogs and just scraped in sgainst the saints.

Our foward line is a huge issue given how we dominate the inside 50s. Weid has been promising but in hindsight seems to play in patches and goes missing for chunks

Except in this crucial event he was MIA all night.

Despite Spargo's good return, he has been below par.

Fritta cant seem to kick anymore and doesnt apply enough pressure

Melksham should be delisted.

Still no proven crumber.

I know Jacksons injured but we have been caught short with options given tmacs 2 year slump.

We cant rely solely on Weid. My kingdom for a big name at ff.

Wagner...Smith...Jones...omac..harmes....anb???

Viney had a shocker.

At least Langdon has been a shining light this year.

This loss really hurts.

Surprised no one is pointing out the massive 2 disp by Weiderman. I know he's shown reasonable form over the last month, but whatever way we look at it that was a pathetic game. Simply terrible.

Another 5 goals in a row unanswered 3 weeks in a row, 2nd quarter syndrome again no knowledge, no discipline.

Gawn legitimately talked about 'positives' and 'things they'll learn' in his post-match.

Absolutely, he is your classic old second rover who spends most of the time in the pocket. On the old terminolgy i would try kozzie as a rover at times.

What a dog's breakfast that was.

We were all over the place and played with no structure, confidence or intelligence. Incredibly poor effort. I am sure that there will be the usual mutterings about taking 'learnings' from the game and the disappointment that we did not play our 'Brand' of footy but that is all just so much babble and BS. There needs to be clarity of thought and message from the coaching panel and there was no evidence of that at all this evening.

stems from some of the team selection this week and general list management recently.  I know we've got some injuries but never a good sign when you're bombing it forward to Mitch Brown and Oscar McDonald to try win the game.

Had multiple defenders around him and blocking him, not to mention the disgraceful delivery. Could have been better for sure, but there's also a fair bit of blame for the mids and the coaches in not playing their parts.

Fumbled like it was wet.

Tackled like they were scared.

Wow, that was so poor.

Langdon best on for us.  Pass marks for Brown, Tomlinson, Gawn, May, Spargo (just)

Real issues with OMAC, Melksham, Fritsch, Jones (hos last game in the red and the blue??)

The rest - meh.

We are absolutely the softest bunch of {xxxxx} getting about.

Watch Goody scratch his leg and serve up the bs for 5 minutes.  Vomitous.

If you followed his efforts all night you'd realise how far off that comment is. Was our best afield by a country mile. Only one who decided he'd have a crack for every minute of that game. Bloke was f*ing cooked by the end of it from working hard both ways all day. Dont think those goals would have changed much in reality. Coming back from 5 goals down into a breeze would have been a miracle and the kickout he stuffed game was already done.

Selection just baffling. Cannot say any 4 ins contributed anything apart from making up the numbers. Jones is done which is a very sad thing to say given all that he's done for this club thick and thin but tonight and last week has just proven he's just not up to it anymore. If you're slow and cant kick, youre done. Smith should get moved on or at least have one final crack at a forward position where he can play unaccountable football. Can't defend to save his life. ANB, Wagner are just eh footballers, who you worry with ball in hand.

As for the rest of the side, purely expecting the game to fall their way with applying zero pressure or grunt. Why does it consistently take us to be on the brink, to bring either decent footy smarts, skills, tackling or pressure? Either the messaging from the coaches is that far off the mark or they just cant stand up. Either way, it happens far too often and serious questions needs to be asked of this mob and some absolute no nonsense coaching to this group is absolutely neccessary. No doubt they'll show up next week and get our hopes up again. The cycle will inevitably continue....

Yes he clearly was, but that miss at the end cost us any chance of clawing our way back and the kick out was the icing on the cake. Overall still our best but he had a shocking last bit of the game.

We need more attack on the ball up forward. We have too many midfielders at the moment programmed to do the same job, it is right out of balance.

Anyone who has played deep forward in a team performance like today would cut Weid some slack today.

Seemed like we were just kicking it to Aliir Aliir most of the time aha

Surely Tom McDonald is a better defender than Oscar McDonald.

Pissweak performance.

Oscar McDonald is by far the worst footballer ever to grace the red and blue. Its a comedy that we've gifted this potato to 80 games. Pack your games son, that's the last we'll see of you.

Jack Viney - Can't stand him and never been a fan. Is nothing but an idiotic selfish footballer. Nearly knocked out Trent Rivers because he he wanted the the ball himself when Rivers was about to gather the ball. Not only that, he is a disruption to our midfield set up. I would be happy to trade for a 2nd rounder.  Not a leader's [censored] and its laughable that he's our VC. Give it to Steven May and trade out this muppet.

Simon Goodwin - insipid coaching performance. I pumped him up on the back of thinking we'd easily beat Sydney and Freo. I got sucked in easily once again.

This is worse then the Port loss.

As hard as this seems, I wish I could give it 2 likes.

Weid has been too consistent over the last couple months for me to put too much [censored] on him after today, especially with the congestion and inside 50 quality

2 kicks and zero marks. That's almost the game right there.

Though while not excusing it, the kicking into the forward line went back to woeful again.

I do not disagree but think one has to be traded, for mine Brayshaw, and Viney forward.

We don't need either in the side.  Ever.

Tomlinson is better than both of them combined down back right now.

I miss the days of going to the footy and watching Lyndon Dunn trying  to disguise paddling the ball deliberately out of bounds from the centre square. At least we knew what we were getting.

As bad as we were in the second quarter, we shot ourselves in the foot in the third.

We spent most of the quarter in attack and managed 1 goal 3 to 2 points, a gain of 7 points. A decent side would have had a net gain of 30 points on the basis of the opportunities we had in that term.

What about the 1st as well.

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

  • NON-MFC: Round 09

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. Essendon can’t afford another close match against a lower-ranked side, while the Swans risk sliding down the ladder even further. Up in Darwin, the fourth-placed Suns will look to extend their stay in the top four. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs. Adelaide are eyeing a spot in the Top 4 with a win, while Port Adelaide’s season could slip away if they drop another game and fall further behind the pack. Sunday begins with a yawn fest between Richmond and West Coast. The Tigers need to bank the points to stay clear of the bottom two, while the Eagles are still chasing their first win of the year. The Giants face one of the league’s toughest road trips as they travel to GMHBA Stadium to face the Cats. With GWS at risk of a third straight loss, Geelong will be eager to consolidate their position inside the eight and start their climb up the ladder. The round wraps up with the top-of-the-table Lions heading to Ninja Stadium to take on the second-last Roos. The Lions should easily take care of the struggling Roos who might be powerless against the best in the comp. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?
