Bombers v Eagles at the Gabba tomorrow (Tuesday) night.

Eagles without Kennedy and Daniher in form for the Bombers with Heppel .and Hurley back

Eagles by 20... I hope

Preceded by Hawks v Crows... a battle of the near extinct birds ?

If Essendon beats West Coast, things will get bad for two reasons:

  1. Essendon will be challenging for finals
  2. Essendon supporters will come even further out of the woodwork

Away from Perth, no Kennedy, no Cripps...who knows.

If Dons win they'll be fan-declared flag favourites.

If Melbourne, West Coast and Carlton win it will be very hard to see us missing finals.   Dangerous words I know.

I hope Adelaide break their losing streak with a thrashing of Hawthorn. Those superior Hawthorn supporters can suck on that loss for a bit

Al Clarkson said this: “our focus isn’t on the urgency of a win or loss....at the moment, winning is valuable for us but it’s not absolutely critical.” So winning isn’t their priority

This is less about Clarkson but more about how in the past the AFL created a system that rewarded “experimenting” with players in different position and other clubs exploited it but we were the only ones to be punished.

Tell me if we see Frost playing forward this week will that be scrutinised or will the media just say “oh Clarko is a genius coach and was trying something different”.

Remind me again why we got fined $500,000?

Given we’ve got the Hawks second round pick... I say play on Clarko pop Scully in the ruck... Frosty to Full Forward. You are a genius.
?

Interestingly, Frosty is out, managed.  Hawks have beefed up their defenders and running players.

Out:  Jonathon Patton (Injured), Liam Shiels (Managed), Michael Hartley (Omitted), Sam Frost (Managed), Will Day (Managed)

In:  Ben Stratton, James Frawley, Jarman Impey, Mitch Lewis, Shaun Burgoyne

Solid and quality albeit some aging 'ins'.  Altho Day is a loss.

I think Clarkson is saying:  'no way is Adelaide winning their only game for the year on my watch!'  That sort of ignominy would be a bridge too far for Clarkson.

I think they'll win.

I hope Adelaide win a game as they will for sure ask for an extra pick round one.

Crows have a good lead over Hawks.  Should be further ahead.  Lots of points and missed a few easy shots completely.

In tonight's game can't see the Bombers beating Eagles even without Kennedy.

That will slam the door shut on any hope Ess have of making finals.

Jesse Hogan back against Richmond, I wouldn’t be expecting much from him but it’ll be interesting to see how he goes.

Not a good game but have seen worse. Adelaide should win. Both these sides will be down near the bottom next year.

Live with it Hawthorn and you may lose some of that arrogance. We know what it is like to be a poor side and it sucks. Just glad we are better than those 2 at the momment.

Hawks tanking? They have form once they are out of contention. I might put a call into Adrian Anderson and give Caro a heads up.

Wow Crows going to win a game finally!

Only 22 points up going into the last quarter.  I'd be nervous as a Crows fan as the Hawks are well within striking distance.

Wouldn't bet on it just yet, Crouch missed that set shot and then the Hawks squeezed that late goal (it was almost scripted). I haven't watched the entire match but the crows have very clearly been the better team from what I have seen, they've had some pretty stock standard opportunities that they've missed. Crouch's ball drop was absolutely awful, never looked like it.

The city of Churches will be rocking tonight !!

To demonstrate just how wacky Bruce has got with his rhetorical questions, here’s a breakdown of everything from the Carlton v Collingwood match on Sunday.

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
