Never really paid O Mac much attention despite all the gnashing of teeth that goes on around here but watching him a little more closely in the replay is his disposal usually that bad.

There were lots of turnovers in the Alice but he seemed to have a high percentage. On a positive note I can't remember many costing us a goal but they certainly killed the forward thrusts.

Another question has Lever's kicking always been so ineffective or was he better pre-injury. Might be an intercept star but his ability to launch an attack is limited. Seems mainly a mark and prop player.

We may have found another good rebounder in Rivers.

Feel it's about time to give Hunt a chance.
Maybe he's been watching how Ed Langdon goes about playing and thinking to himself, "Hey, I could do a lot of that, plus I have just as good a bandanna ? ?".
Maybe we'd be pleasantly surprised with Hunt on the other side from Ed.

Hunt is adaptable - he can do these things and has been given great exemplars to interpret over the past month. His pace and sprinting recovery is a tremendous asset now that the team is actually slowing its intended progress of the ball and looking up for opportunities ahead - but not too far ahead. Hunt is also a great kick.

Langdon has a huge tank. Not sure about Hunts. When we played him off half back/wing a few seasons ago yes he would provide great run but I would watch that followed by him absolutely stuffed with hands on knees often after a couple of repeat sprints. Also Langdon's disposal is OK and tracking along well. Hunts is just awful.

I imagine we will only see Hunt come in for a small forward like Kozzy or Hannan. I think the balance we have at the moment is good further up the ground.

have been impressed with Tomlinson down back. His disposal is excellent - 100% efficiency against the Pies and is getting more of the ball in that psition.

Classic Demonland. Two adjacent posts showing that confirmation bias is alive and well.

Maybe. But one of the posters is correct. And the other totally incorrect.

I was actually thinking he could come in for an obviously out of form Hannan... he has the pace and he is a decent shot on goal; but I get the feeling that they might listen to the Demonland selection panel and instead go with a half paced Bennell, which concerns me a little.  It would be interesting to know just how Hunt has been performing in the scratch matches and what sort of a role he's been playing.

How's LA by the way? Or did you flee back to the safety of Melbourne ??

Oscar's disposal is his best trait.

I've still got nightmares from R21 loss at the MCG in 2018 which meant we needed to beat WC in Perth to make the finals.  Deja vu all over again here ...

Agree jnr. Usually very reliable by foot, in large part because he a sound technique.

Though his kicking it was pretty poor against the saints

Classic democratic thought processes at work - encouraging, isn't it? Love the variety of comment - provides stimulus in the formulation of ideas, thoughts, reflections and the settling of concrete positivism to balance inputs.

Simply because May and Lever function much better with another taller defender and without Hibberd there as well, we need extra cover. I know Sydney aren't the tallest team, in particular if McCartin plays back again, but lets not waste what we've been building by completely wrecking the structure. OMac will be better against Freo, who do play with a taller forward line, so bringing in Smith against a smaller forward line makes sense to me.

yes I see your point means Smith must be able to win his contests one on one he has to remember he is not the intercept marker

needs to win his 50/50 give us some run and make a good disposal forward

The games against swans, freo & bombers who are below us are the danger games which in past history are the ones we drop. Gws are a better side than current ladder position & will be hard to beat.

Yes I think so. Heeney stood on his head for a mark in our FP "right in front of me".

The weekly "bookmakers form" is out:

https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/804744/a-chance-to-return-who-s-in-the-frame-for-round-15-

so you can lock in Fritsch, Lockhart, Harmes and ANB( although I don't know why for the last 2)

Forget about Smith...no mention ( and if Lockhart comes back, he will be taking on Papley)

Preuss a possibility if Max isn't fit.

No Bennell mention either.

It's a much healthier situation than the alternative of groupthink.

Now that's reflective of alarmism

That is the most ridiculous thing I've heard since COVID started.

Footy will be back in Victoria next year unless the VIC government blow it again.

IN - Fritsch, Hunt OR Neal-Bullen

Out - Hannan, Pickett (like the kid but he needs a rest. Bring him back Monday night)

If Hibberd doesn't get up, Lockhardt in.

I wonder who gets the job on Papley?

Small forwards re our achilles heel. And he is the best in the game i reckon.

I liked the idea of Smith coming in for him but that doesn't sound likely.

It does sound likely however that Lockhart will come back in and would have the mongrel to harass and niggle Papley. it would be a fun match up to watch actually.

You probably have to accept he will kick a couple of goals but if we can keep him to two that's a win as really he is their only regular goal kicking threat.

Not only will it be back, there should be no restrictions on crowd size and that dehumanizing 'social distancing' rubbish needs to be consigned to the dustbin of history.

You reckon social distancing is rubbish?

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
