When is Fritsch going to prepare for a match by kicking 300 practice goals at training each week? No rest until he nails 300 goals.

Actually, he spent ages before the game with his goal kicking practice.  Was out on the ground long after the rest of the team had gone back in before the game start.  Alas, it didn't seem to help much!  And, to think, in his first year he was a dead eye d*ck...!

He wasn't even that good of a kick when drafted. Everyone on here just thought because he had a nice action and was a left footer he was a great kick but has always been a rubbish kick in my eyes

Have been appreciative of Tmac's form the last 2 games but its just not enough. I know hes only one of 22 but its a clear signal to the others if we drop him.

Let Harmes, Hannan and melksham have some time off as well and put everyone on notice.

Play the coachimg staff for all I care but please dont reward lack of effort anymore.

Melksham should be dropped for that contested mark he shirked in the 2nd quarter if nothing else

Really?  Your memory probably better than mine, but I seem to remember he used to nail pretty much every shot he had on goal in his first year.  No?

I agree. We get little from Lockhart, Harmes, Tomlinson and Lever and then Hibberd starts to do far too much.

Rivers is the most logical addition in Harmes' spot.

But at some stage before the end of the year I'd look at Smith for Tomlinson and Chandler for Lockhart as well. Our backline has done a decent job as a unit for most of the year but we can't sit back and rest on them just being good.

If we find some quality at half back we can actually unleash Salem in to the midfield as well.

Lockhart has been OK since the Cats/Tigers games. I don't think he's going anywhere anytime soon.

Smith is a bust, the guy is useless. I'd rather have Tomlinson out there as bad as he has been.

They had 20 scoring shots we had 17. We missed a lot of easy shots, some were carried off by the wind, others the wind died as we kicked, allowing for the wind. All the BS and hand wringing is nonsense. We could have won if we’d have kicked straight. All the rest is rubbish. And have a look at the Doggies last few games where they missed multiple goals. But why o why didn’t we tag Bontempelli?

That would involve proactive strategic thinking from the coaching box, so it didn’t happen.

Would probably help if we had a proper goal kicking coach to instruct him. Doesn't matter how long you practice for otherwise.

Wanted to wait a while, calm down   then vent.    just some points,  I did think we could beat Footscray today, if we played like we did against Collingwood, but not to be...

I do not think Max would have raised a win, so it was wise to rest him.  Although I think St.Kilda will be harder to beat. They usually pummel us !

So we can beat the bottom two sides easily, even a depleted Pieside, but not with today's game plan and effort.

We were playing very poorly but still in front at half time, If Fritz, Melky, and Kossy had kicKed straight...

The third quarter was as bad as I can remember,   For 186 I was heading OS, so missed it. but in that 3rd we were witches hats at training, was it like that.

and our coaches did didley squat !    the game was effectively over after that.  We still squared the last, almost.

I do think Kossy will be a very great player, but now he is ineffective and needs to learn his craft a little bit better, he is too rushed or something.

Our backs did OK, given the amount of times the ball was coming down. There was little or no pressure from our half forwards or centre line. There are days the ball just does not bounce your way and today we did not get one bounce like that. Perhaps we did not run hard enough.

Bontempelli,   not a bad player at all,  but who was his opponent, how many times did he get a second possession or goal after giving off a pass or handball. getting it back and the dogs end up scoring.   Hells Bells if I can see that   it must be bloody obvious .

I do think the dogs are a very good side, top 4 perhaps,  and the Saints are not bad either. I think we sit 8 or 9 maybe 10th.

But that's not a pass mark for our coaching staff, it was their job to prepare our players and in the 3rd they failed dismally.

Still, we are still alive, see what next week brings, I hope its better than today.

I think when we drafted him he was more of the thumping kick who gets good purchase on it. I've got faith he can get it right but he's got to clean this up.

I hope we make at least 5 to 6 changes because if we don't we won't beat St.Kilda too many passengers.

How about our dud coach who has no answers in a crisis?

No point yet, will wait to see what the AFL do with the cap and playing lists. But to find that cap space will require 1 or 2 big names to depart.

Tommy has to be one. Who could we possibly offload him to with the form he is in?

Yep I think so. Especially given the salary he is rumoured to be on. We’d have to pay some of his salary though but I’d think it’d only be for one more year.

Id be tempted to look at Viney or Brayshaw as well.

For the past month we've been excellent at containing opp rebound 50s and forcing teams to go down the line where we've had the advantage.  Credit where credit is due, Doggies did a great job in the 3rd of getting to the fat side and capitalizing. There wasnt too much between the teams other than that.

If after the port loss you said we thumped the cellar dwellars and split the pies and dogs, we all would have taken it.  We're not top 4 material.  You could say we carry too many passengers but in all honesty the players you bring in will probably just be another set of passengers.  Making the finals with a full healthy list is still well alive with a win next week.

I don’t think Fritsch is our first order problem. 10 marks, 3 contested, 1 goal 2 and 1 out of bounds! Should have kicked 2 to 3 but he is not our real problem. Where were the other forwards? Weid tried hard and took some strong marks for 2 goals but the rest? Melk kicking from 20m has the ball touched FFS. AVB? Spargo, Hannan? Pickett needs a rest. TMac is struggling but with no Jackson we need him for the ruck work and bringing the ball to the ground up forward. We have too many passengers each week. Not sure there is much in the reserves to bring in that makes a difference. Jones in, maybe Bennell. Maybe more so we need the engine room to fire up next week, Tracc, Oliver, Brayshaw, Viney, need to do better guys!

I've just gone onto the AFL website and  looked for the Rules. Apparently they are not there anymore, and the person i messaged said the Umpires were told to "throw them out the window".

Yep, incorrect disposal doesn't exist anymore

Melky weighted and change of angles work. Salem has his individual program. White cap (no contact), Howes, Woewodin and Sparrow

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
