Nice get DL. One of my favourite players. If I wore a Dees guernsey to games anymore I’d have his number on my back and not just because I still have Woey’s number on it either.

I’m sure you’ll cover his injuries and recovery & perhaps the Burgess Effect so can you ask about hub life and the compressed fixture and how they plan to get him and the team through it?

I’d like to know just how close he was in going to Sydney and what factors kept him at the Dees.

Great get - look forward to hearing the interview. The podcasts are getting better and better - really good rapport between Andy, Binman and George. Keep up the great work.

I’d like to ask Vanders how he has coped mentally through his injuries and rehabilitation, especially considering the severity of the injuries.

Great get!

Can you ask him about his role in the side and what Goody values?  He is generally low possession but is apparently one of Goody's favourites (and mine).

I also wouldn't mind hearing him talking us through the Mihocek collision, including getting his mind back on the game after such an incident.  Something like that would have to play on the mind a bit.

Finally, which opposition player would he most like to see standing under a hospital handball while he is coming in with a full head of steam, and why?

Ever since he came to the club there’s been something about Aaron vandenBerg that’s intrigued me and I wonder if you could ask -

“What’s it been like going through life with a capital letter in the middle of your surname instead of at the start?”

That question had crossed my mind. Perhaps as an icebreaker.

Will definitely be asking about the Burgess Effect & Hub Life too.

Good question.  An extension of that is if he is still juggling football with managing the family business in Canberra and how that looks on a day to day basis for him, and if that's been made harder with hub life?

I'd be keen to know who his footy heroes were as a youngster. Seems like a much more 'old school' bloke than his age would suggest.

Looking forward to this one.

His journey is well documented on here, just a simple question if you can.

What was it like for him personally to be part of two victories in front of massive MCG finals’ crowds with Red & Blue everywhere?

Already got that one in. Goes nicely into the next one about what it's like to play in front of empty stadiums. Missing 2019 he basically went from Full to Empty Stadiums.

Could he tell us a bit about the process with recovering from the foot injury? What were the setbacks, how was his headspace during that period? Is the injury still an issue/something that will need managing for the rest of his career now, or is he completely over it?

All included.

Did a deep dive on all the injuries he's had since coming to the club including the shoulder surgery he had prior to us taking him as a mature age rookie. Surprised he can still stand.

I'd like to know what he thinks has changed since 2018 and how this  years team has improved to hopefully take the next step

Really looking forward to it Andy.  You beat me to the punch with the Burgo question ..... especially fitness level of the team now compared to 2018.  Does he attribute this to the way we have been running out games lately?

I'd like to know if thinks Goodwin is the right guy?

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

And, like Richie, does he get a capital V if he becomes an AFL captain?

I wonder how much ‘off the ball’ actions us fans don’t see really impact matches.  What should we look for?

As always, great listening guys.  Thanks.

Great podcast again, guys and nice interview with AvB - incredible to think he hasn’t even played 50 games of senior footy. And how about those injuries this year? Two metal plates put in his cheek to repair 3 fractures, 2 weeks later, 15 stitches to a head wound just above the plates. One week later, goes back with the flight and cleans up Mihochek and then gets cleaned up by Weid. Trains once a week. He should be nicknamed the Terminator!

Obviously, I can't answer the question, but for those wondering why the 'vanden' is in lower case and one word, it relates to the origins of the name. Lower case and one word probably means that he is of Belgian origin and not Dutch. The Dutch tend to use a capital V and a capital D. So Van Den Burg.

Van in Dutch means 'from' or 'of' while den is 'the' and burg or berg is mountain or slope. So the name literally means from the mountain.

The only exception to this is if the name was Anglicised for reasons we don't know!
