We finally start to get on a roll and lose all our rucks.  We are the Shakespearean tragedy that never ends.

Agreed. I thought we were gonna be okay like richmond. Its a crying shame

Great reporting as usual from ToM bRoWnE there.

Preuss injury diagnosis: "looked annoyed coming off".

I would have no qualms playing all three of Spargo , Pickett and Bedford together.

Have a look at how many small forwards the Tigers roll out each week and their last few years.   They are the blueprint.

Exactly. It's almost a case of the more the merrier.

We've designed a game plan that relies heavily on genuine small forwards and yet we have very few on our list.

I'd love to see us with two talls (Weid, Jacko/TMac), one mid-sized (Hannan/Fritsch) and the rest as smalls.

I'd also love to see us target another 1-2 small forwards in the off-season.

I hope not.  @DeeSpencer claims Jordan Sweet is the modern day version of Dean Cox, Jim Stynes and Aaron Sandilands.  It's a wonder why he hasn't been given a run earlier.

Thanks. Didn’t realise that.

he’d be a big chance to come in  His pace, pressure and intensity are needed

Sorry wasn't Hannan omitted then got ill any way?

Yeah well Bradtke is a cross between Michael Jordan and Martina Navratilova.

Is his injury being annoyed?

If so i have the same injury 20 times day with my two kids and our shared learning and work space!

This is the problem with big Braydon, for a man built like Goliath he seems to break down constantly...hope its not too bad

What is our collective diagnosis?

An earlier twitter post by Ayrton Woolley:

Scans later today for Braydon Preuss. A “tweak” of hip/groin according to club. Not ruled out just yet, but he didn’t look happy.
Dees positive on Gawn progress after big running session. @9NewsMelb

Doesn't sound like it is wrist slashing time!
If nothing else it will keep bulldogs guessing.

Yep. That's an oversight on my part but I'd prefer that our long-term setup only has one medium/makeshift forward (Hannan/Fristch/Melky etc ) and more pressure/crumbing forwards.

Definitely annoyed. Possibly even annoyance awareness.

Maybe annoyance management.

If Bradtke was fit I'd debut him. I say that never even seeing him play. But based on the fact that we have no one to ruck and Gawn needs a rest not to be rushed back.

He's gone. Literally.

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
