  • Demonland changed the title to Scratch Match vs Pies (14/8/20)

I feel dirty looking at the Collingwood twitter feed.  Will wait for a club report...

Bedford 4 goals you beauty! No mention of Brown, Hannan or Bennell.

Oskar Baker exists !!!

Young backman Trent Rivers enjoyed some time up the ground, impressing with his run around the ball, as did Oskar Baker whose pace shone through on the wing.

Rivers is a gun Harmes better find form soon or he will take his place.

So this time it wasn’t necessary to conscript players from other clubs than the Demons and Magpies at their hub at Maroochydore Sports Complex.

Highlights -

• You can’t keep a good big man down. Max Gawn might have been nursing that injured PCL but it didn’t stop him from being one of the goal umpires.

• Melbourne ran away with a convincing 39-point win scoring 12.8.80 to 6.5.41.

• Suspended Alex Neal-Bullen was considered best afield playing up forward (he still has two matches to serve);

• Toby Bedford was lively and did the damage on the scoreboard booting four goals;

• The defence stood strong throughout the game;

• Trent Rivers enjoyed some time up the ground, impressing with his run around the ball;

• Oskar Baker’s pace shone through on the wing;

• Recovering from a broken wrist Corey Wagner played well in the middle unhindered by the protective glove he wore;

• Josh Wagner pushed off half-back to help around the contest;

• Jayden Hunt was the carry over emergency for Melbourne in Round 12.

As mentioned above, no mention made of Brown, Bennell or Hannan or any news on the four injured horsemen - Hore, Petty, Kolo and Nietzchke.

Bloody hell. I’ll take that result this evening thanks very much

Got to dream bigger, F'N'D!

:laugh:

You would hope Baker starts doing something as he’s running out of time for an AFL career.

He's got time he still has another year on his contract.

Ok wasn’t aware of that.

Yes Baker has 2021 under contract but it’s no guarantee.  I’d like to see get a run and I’d take him to FNQ to play either Freo or Swans.  His pace will be handy.

Watching the doggies on the weekend and an undersized Dunkley spending some significant time in the ruck, I wondered what has happened to Kyle. Don’t believe he’s injured - does anyone have an insight on how he’s going. Thought he showed a little bit despite fitness being well underdone last year in his 5 games and playing largely in the graveyard at HFF in a poor side?

Thanks for the summary.

Nice of Max to show support for team mates.

Anyone know what has become of Nev?

How come Melbourne doesn't provide a write-up about each player? I know they're only scratch matches but still...

It’s my understanding that Kyle had a planter fascia injury over Xmas which set him back after working especially hard overseas after the end of last season.

Would certainly be nervous heading into the end of the year.

    The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

    What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.
