Adem Yze to Essendon??:

adem-yze-essendon-coaching-staff

Foxfooty.com.au understands Yze, who is contracted at Hawthorn for 2021, is weighing up his options.

Adelaide was also keen to lure him across to South Australia as recently as a few weeks ago but is now looking at other coaches around the league to assist Matthew Nicks.

It’s understood Melbourne is also eager to bring Yze back to the club where he played 271 games and kicked 234 goals, but it’s unclear whether these discussions have resulted in a formal job offer.

Looks like we are still in the race.  But given he didn't join last year will he be tempted this year?  He would be third in line to Goodwin and Richo so not sure an assistant coaching role at the dees would be as attractive this year.

Would love to have him back at the club.

Footnote:  Not sure about his contract with Hawthorn to 2021 is correct.  Think it could be 2022.

No idea who at this stage, but apparently pretty extensive.

Good.

We've had pretty much the same coacbing group since 2017. Time for some fresh voices and ideas.

100%. IMO we have one of the weakest assistant setups in the comp atm.

The challenge will be making sure Goodwin actively listens to them. That's where the review and Mahoney's role come in to play.

Hawks basically forced him to stay last year. Only way they were letting him out was if he got the Adelaide job (there's that clause in assistant contracts where they can break it for a promotion).

He's gone from pretty much Clarko's number 2, to being behind Mitchell and Bolton in the pecking order so definitely has the ears open. Perfect strengths for us as far as targeting an assistant goes. Kicking and strategy.

Love to see Yze back.

also need a real FWD coach (if not Yze).  Richo not going anywhere (unfortunately) - major mistake hiring him as he has not come from any successful environment.

This is very welcoming news... and it is on Goodwin and the club to be "Ruthless" their words.. fresh faces and new eyes. I hope that Goodwin has an off season like Buckley did a few years ago, where he realised that he must throw responsibility to other people as the coach.. it mede Bucks a ten time better coach because he could concentrate on managing his players. Would love Yze back at the club and Daniel Giansiracusa.. he is the one for me.. sees teh game very well.

Great. It needs to be brutal. You'd expect if Goody retains his gig they should clean the slate around him bar maybe Chaplin if he is our backline coach.

Just keep an eye and ear out for rumblings about Luke Ball and the Demons in some capacity... An outstanding person, great leader and footy brain.. If i hear any more i will let you know.. right now its just an aside, but it might become a whisper soon and then who knows.

One out of left field:  How would folks feel about Daisy Pearce as an assistant coach?

Has an excellent footy brain regarding game plans, strategy and opp analysis and highly respected.  She was assisting with coaching the AFLW team while waiting for her twins.

Whether we could prise her out of the media who knows.

Would absolutely love it and be open to the prospect.

Combined mid-field/strategy/opp analysis would be a great fit for her experience and fills a real need.

Pleased to hear this. Always been impressed by Luke Ball. To me he looks like he would make a good footy GM. Be happy to take him in any role though.

I was annoyed/jealous we he was first appointed at the Bombers and surprised to see they let him go. Hopefully somethings does come of this.

Not sure why you would think Richardson is second in line. I don't think he would always to be a senior coach again and I see his role as more of a mentor to Goodwin and someone to provide some internal checks and balanceson how the coaches are performing in their roles.

Yze would be an excellent pickup it probably depends on what role we could offer to him, his influence re game style, how he would fit into the coaching structure, and how that ties in with his aspiration to be senior coach.  I would expect the Essendon role to be attractive because of the amount of input and influence he would have on how Essendon play.

Gut feel Yze #13 will be at the Dees for 2021!

Goodwin will see out his year but will not survive if we don’t win a final or two! With Yze to takeover...

Hoping Yze can bring Gunston and Breust with him.

Not really wanting to defend Richo but they did bring in some very handy talent after he left.

I definitely think besides getting Mark "Choco" Williams that we should look to try and get Michael Voss from Port Adelaide as our midfield coach.

Troy Chaplin, Ben Matthews and Justin Plapp are done and dusted. Time to get some quality.

I didn't mean to imply Yze would be 3rd behind Richardson for senior coach.

Richardson's role isn't very clear.  His official title is Director of Coaching but I haven't been able to find a statement from the club on what what that involves.  I've seen it described as Senior Assistant Coach, to mentor Goodwin and to develop Assistant Coaches.  So I interpreted that, rightly or wrongly, that Richardson is Goodwin's 'right hand man'.  I guess seeing Richardson take a few game day interviews has reinforced this.

It was in this context that I said Yze would be 3rd behind Richardson ie in influence and importance so a role at mfc may not be so attractive as others, like you suggest that Essendon could.
