Essendon are notoriously hard to deal with.
They'd want Petracca.

Crossed to Essendon from Gold Coast as a 23yo for a future second round pick (ended up being pick 35).

Now 25 and hitting his prime, he wouldn't come cheap; Essendon would ask for a lot.

our first rounder in 2021 MIGHT get it done but, then again, essendon would demand that PLUS petracca

actually, tbh, the peptides reputation as being difficult to deal with is somewhat unfounded; for the most part they get their deals done as well as anyone else, and often more efficiently than the likes of fremantle for instance

to be honest the one i'd look at as a runner from half-back at the end of this season is rory laird

Out of contract and no close to a new deal by the looks of it.

He is everything that we are screaming out for. Dash from half back with clean kicking skills.

Happy to give up our 2nd rounder.

Would be my second target behind a key forward, although there may be some free agent options there, but definitely keen.

hes' solid and would take him - but they'd ask overs for sure

we need to look for a key forward (I think we have a half decent one in Smith but unfortunately he's getting used down back)

not sure who else is out there? I'd look at raiding Adel but their list looks kinda trash

If that’s their need, they’d ask for Brayshaw.  Whilst I wouldn’t want to do that, many would see that as fair.

Give me Sparrow over Saad any day.

Definitely should show interest just to annoy Essendon and put pressure on their salary cap.

Funny that we have two ex-Essendon players but neither could actually tell us about him from personal contact, but we also have two ex-Suns (incl an ex-co-captain Sun) who might know him a bit.

My level of interest in Saad will be entirely determined by how our little collection of smaller defender options make progress this year, although many of them are still listed on stats sites as forwards, it will be interesting to see how this season's experiments turn out.

Other than that, a lot depends on salary caps, playing numbers, and the wild swirl of chaos we are all engulfed in at present.

Brayshaw for Saad, Harmes back to the midfield.

To me, that makes us a better team.

If Gus doesn't perform this year that would be a sensible trade but I doubt Essendon would go for it.

Sounds like he wants decent money and with no increase in the salary cap could be a hard fit.We have some high value re-signings in 2021 IIRC.

Have heard conflicting things about our salary cap situation (from the same journalist too, ugh), but going by Lucifer's Hero list here, our out of contract players this year are (and guessing on what will happen - while unsure of list sizes for next year):

Bedford - Likely keep
Fritsch - Keep
Hibberd - 50/50
Hannan - Keep
Hore - Likely keep
Hunt - 50/50
Jones - Retire
Jordan - Keep
OMac - 50/50
Nietschke - 50/50
Petty - Likely keep
Smith - Keep
J.Wagner - Gone
Sparrow - Keep
Spargo - Likely keep
Viney - Keep

I don't think any of the ones we're likely to keep will be in for big money. Saad's contract with the Bombers currently is only about 400k (if reported correctly) and he's clearly worth more than that. Potentially it all hinges on what Daniher decides?

If Daniher is leaving offer them Weideman and a draft pick.

free agent, no need for trade; we'd just need to show him the money

still reckon he's northern states bound

and on uncontracted players i'd say:

Bedford - 50/50
Fritsch - Keep
Hibberd - 50/50
Hannan - Keep
Hore - 50/50
Hunt - likely keep
Jones - Retire
Jordan - Keep
OMac - likely keep
Nietschke - gone
Petty - Likely keep
Smith - Keep
J.Wagner - Gone
Sparrow - likely Keep
Spargo - 50/50
Viney - likely keep*

*he's a free agent so the decision is out of our hands to a greater lesser degree

i know he's apparently contracted til the end of 2021, but you can't see kk staying on a reduced list of 35 players

I believe loges meant that with Daniher leaving; Essendon will be looking for a key forward. So Weideman + Pick traded for Saad.

No way.    Sparrow might be just what we're looking for in our Mids, or anywhere else.

I'd rather try to offer Brays,  for Ben Brown at North.    [ Brayshaw + O'Baker, or future pick ]  for BBrown.

With the Bummers,  swap  Bray  for Parish,   plus spare change to round it out.

I'd stay away from Daniher.   While he's on the bummers list,  he's chewing on their cap space.   Which could mean we might claim another of their list.?  What about Parish,  What is Fantasia like.?

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session.
