Will the Dees move their training back to Gosch's?

 

Really? How many new cases have there been in the Cardinia Shire in the past week to make it a hot spot?

I don't see why we'd have to move.

Casey Fields is surely locked down purely for our use, and the players drive there, train and surely drive straight home.

It's far more secure and locked down than Goschs' where they'd have to fence off the oval and work out a plan on how to keep the players safe in the facility (is the gym and pool still shared with Storm and others)?

Stay at Casey, make sure our players are getting their coffees and filling up the petrol tanks back where they live.

Couldn't see us moving back to a public park. Casey is at least a little enclosed.

Could we see a 'hub-like' training situation where a few teams use one facility? ie - Melbourne, Saints and Bulldogs all share Whitten Oval, which I think is a bit less publicly available than Gosch's and RSEA.

 

Assuming no one else is allowed in or out of Casey Fields and our players don't go anywhere in Casey other than Casey Fields, we'd be OK wouldn't we?

Might have problems if any players live in Casey (or any of the other affected LGAs, for that matter), though.

Surely this is the perfect time to simply move back home to the MCG. We had a bit out on our ground today, the boys should simply rock up again tomorrow. Problem solved!

don't see the issue

the players are not living in casey

they are not shopping in casey

they are not interacting with casey people and businesses

they merely attend one secure locked down monitored isolated facility

Trouble is I can see a huge MFC player revolt if training is moved from Casey, being so conveniently located for our players to the proximity of their homes...especially with the abundance of Coles Express service stations.

It doesn't matter what we think the official line is 

The Australian Health Protection Principal Committee said in a statement that it "strongly discourages" travel to and from Hume, Casey, Brimbank, Moreland, Cardinia and Darebin for non-essential reasons until the Victorian government can suppress the spread of community transmission in those municipalities.

They haven't said you cannot but strongly discouraged all non essential reasons which while open to interpretation suggests the club may have to reconsider its training base unless they hub there. In light of Connor McKenna all players are told to limit their social interaction and keep away from people. I noticed one lesser know MFC player hanging out in the food court at Southland last week and he certainly wasn't social distancing from his companions. I think all AFL clubs will be overly sensitive and over cautious in light of this weekend.

Work is considered essential travel if you can’t work from home. AFL is a job and is the livelihood of thousands. 
I believe Harmes lives in the Casey area, but given the current restrictions AFL players SHOULD adhere to, they shouldn’t be out in the community so it’s irrelevant.

Oh ok, you're right, the AFL would never go for teams in hubs...

It's the least they can do for us ?

So they have re tightened restrictions again. Yesterday there was a total of 19 cases in a state population of 6.6 million. The day before 25. This is complete madness. Throw the economy in the waste paper basket.

Having seen highlights of yesterday's practice match, it begs the question why we couldn't have access to the 'G for training during this period? The ground could surely cope with a few training sessions held throughout the week. There are four lots of changing rooms, underground parking and ample meeting space not being used for corporate functions at the moment that could easily be altered for lockdown purposes. It's wishful thinking, but it would be great if the club could come to an agreement with the MCC for this unusual season.

As the cluster areas of Brimbank, Hume, Moreland and Darebin all share common boundaries couldn't they just be declared one large clusterf@ck ?
