James Harmes had been filming the end of the game; he seemed to get the team pretty excited on the way back in to the rooms.  They appeared to start on the back of his filming to maintain momentum.  Not a great look.  The skipper did not look particulary thrilled with it at first glance

It looked to just be a mistake. Players all got into the rooms, bit unsure what to do given no one is allowed to put their arms around each other anymore, even though they all tackle each other during the game....

Storm in a tea cup type stuff.

It was a strange end as it seemed the players were almost not even going to sing the song given how poor their second half was.

Where was the team manager.?

Posters might well be right that it mean nothing but this club has a habit of lot of little issues.

Organisation...  not players role necessarily,  but surely some staff inside the rooms should be noticing this,  as the players arrive back in.

Nothing in it. Normally I’d make a big deal about something like this, but honestly, the room situations are all weird, no arms around each other, it was all a bit weird and players didn’t really know what to do. I’ll excuse it this time

There were no officials in the rooms. Part of the problem

That's very big of you to excuse it, can hear the sigh of relief from the players as I type

Who gives a flying about what Garr Lyon will say, has to fill air time with some dribble

Seriously it was poor.  It was a sign of blokes NOT thinking and reflects the onfield decision making.  Gawns first win as captain and he misses the song !! What was vice captain Viney thinking ??? Simply was not thinking.

Did anyone think ... where’s Langdon and Tomlinson?  It was a shambles

Where was Goody ?  Doesn’t he sing the song now with the players.

Lyon has Almost played as many finals as every player collectively in our team & ex captain.. I think he knows what good culture is ..

Yep, much as I dislike these petty criticisms, I have to admit that I thought the celebrations were OTT for a performance that was underwhelming. It was all a bit of a rabble, which reflected on the pitch for half the game.

It isn't the end of the world that some people are making it to be. It is however a perfect reflection of our club as a whole. Just a bit of a hot mess.

How you forget to look for the captain during the team song, the captain who is 8 foot tall with a bushy beard, is really very much in the same mysterious vein of how we can give up a 45 point lead.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
