Huge result for us, footy wise. But will anyone buy a membership if they can't go to games?

    I reckon they will.

    Clubs will lose a lot of money from crowds and I think supporters will want to help out.

    I think an AFL player will get the virus within  2 weeks and round3 onwards will be canceled

    But canceling crowds helps the smaller vic clubs and the ****ty expansion  clubs

    The moment a player tests positive, the whole thing changes. Just take a look at the NBA. I can't think of too many things that would potentially expose you to the virus than been taken down in a group tackle, or in arm-lock marking contest or even a goal celebration.

    Stats show that the Eagles do very well from the umps in home games (and not so well in away games to be fair). The most accepted explanation is that umpires are influenced subconsciously by the partisan crowd.

    Well, I wouldn't want to be travelling anywhere on a plane at the moment.

    I hope the AFL stump up for charters otherwise it's a stupid decision to start the season this week.

    Re the free kick differential (which may be less without their rabid fans):

    “Since the start of 2011, in matches at home against interstate sides, the Eagles have lost the free kick count in 12 of 72 matches.

    “They’ve won 60 of 72 free kick counts against any other side other than Fremantle at home.

    A lot of water to flow under the bridge yet but if they use the bye weeks to make up any cancelled games then Hobart will no longer be a floating round.

    In response WCE hace declared a fake COVID19 positive test for 1 of their players to avoid going ahead with the game :laugh: (jk)

    This is all really quite bizarre to watch unfold, if round one goes ahead that certainly brings the home ground advantage down. 

    I expect that if a player gets diagnosed with the virus that will signal shut down of matches. Makes the AFL’s farcical fixturing system even less even, always said that teams should never play another team twice until each team has played each other once. At least if they augmented the season down in rounds that would be a lot easier to control. 

    Just on the gathering of 500 people, shame they can’t let say 100 from each teams cheer squad in. Just to give a tiny bit of colour.

    Could work in our favour as there won’t be  any screaming feral wc supports there.

    Umps will hopefully be better too.

    Eagles thrive off the crowd (particularly guys like Ryan, Cripps, Nic Nat and JK) and with no noise I just pray that they're a little bit off their game and we can take full advantage of the situation.

    I think the players have most danger of being infected out in public,  then they do amongst fellow AFL players and staff.

    So the AFL should ban all players from going out into the public sphere.

    WC supporters have booed the decision of the AFL to lock them out of Domain stadium for round 1. In fact they threatening to boo all week and turn up and surround Domain stadium...booing. If they don’t win the free kick count, they plan on booing well into the foreseeable future.

      Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

      The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention.
