I was told that the upgrade of aami park for the 2023 womens world cup would include a new base for MFC. This hasn't happened. Something has gone wrong...

Probably be announced during the election campaign.

The state govt has already annouced. Only $25m, i think we were hoping for something much bigger.

Honestly, if Kate can't get a govt announcement with funding by mid 2023 she needs to walk and let someone else try. Terrible that we still don't know anything even at this stage ... people might say its like watching grass grow ... but atleast the grass is doing something

If Kate and her connections and past achievements in this space can't get a government announcement then I doubt if anyone can.

That's what i am afraid of, i doubt anyone can solve this mess.

l'm not so forgiving ... if that's the case they should have realised earlier and gone outside the mcg precinct. As Kate has said before she knows what she is doing in this space and we need to trust her

My question is, what were they going to announce, that they now aren’t?

So what was the 12 months plan?

How about explaining where it was to be  and why it failed.

Being told nothing is pretty poor, especially  from a Board that won’t let anyone else who might be able to help, get onto it.

This is a discreet issue that has we have been trying to solve for decades. What is the current situation?

We are a member base organisation they need to explain what went wrong ... if they were dudded then they need to explain it or whatever else that might have happened

I do trust her but by your earlier comment:  "...if Kate can't get a govt announcement with funding by mid 2023 she needs to walk..." I'm not sure you do.

Nothing will be built in my lifetime.
Just keep winning Flags Demons, they are more important to me

Correct, what has she actually done so far? The team hadn't lost a game when she took over in 21. This was what she was hanging her hat on

IF we win the big one will it be cheese boards and hipster food trucks at Gosch's or can we talk the MCC in to letting us into our home ground.

Time to move from the MGC precinct. Wasted enough time.

Fisherman's bend is a good location and should be looked at.

But they can't burn their bridges with the Government, so it's a delicate situation.

I think they expected aami park to be extended with new change rooms, meeting rooms, gym, indoor practice area etc. to allow certain world cup teams to be based there during the tournament. I think the hope was after the cup those would be handed over to the dees. We would continue to train at gosch's. Was meant to be a big state government annoucement.

But is there a “relationship” with the Government or is it just Fluff that we are told?

not one plan has been shown to Members over many years.

Nothing

Nothing

And that is the problem.

We are basically told it is going well and will be announced soon, but nothing.

Members don’t need to be told every minute detail, but at least something.

Have we got a plan, a site, an idea, a dream, a wish, a hope, anything?

The problem is, that's already backfired badly for us once when the whole Yarra Park debacle happened.

Then say we have something in place, but we can’t give the details yet.

The members were told of an announcement that never happened.

Or just tell the likely truth, we haven’t got  anywhere yet.

It is probably the biggest off field issue for the club and to date we seem to have achieved nothing, after years of working on it.

In Alternate Training ground news....

The Doggies are in for an interesting finals,  walking past Whitten oval this morning, and i see some bright spark has decided Now is the right time to dig up the turf for replacement....  So no training for them.

To give the benefit of the doubt, this was only my reading of the interview. Has anyone else listened to it yet? Maybe she just used the wrong words when explaining it - she did say she discusses the issue with Pert daily - but to say that they both want to at least have the "answer" to the home base by the end of their terms was only one way to read it for me. If they're still only talking about the answer to the location then they are basically at square one.

I wouldn't want to destabilise the board during this period of onfield success - I think we all know onfield success cannot happen with off-field destabilisation - but this board has hung their legacy on getting a home base setup and if they don't it will be a big mark against them despite the premiership(s?).

It's beginning to look like the devolved SNP government in Scotland where the next independence referendum is always just over the next hill then around the next bend. We'll all be deid before we see it.

Or make a claim on the old Collingwood oval, Vic Park. Pies cannot claim two precincts.

Could force the Pies to make a decision on whether they are leaving the Glass House.

For us, we could be chasing the Glass House (Olympic oval) or Vic Park.

That's interesting RABF. The surface there is actually really good. My guess is that they will be training at Skinner Reserve in Braybrook then which is being set up as a secondary training facility for the club. For anyone that's interested here's a link to the work that will be done to Whitten Oval.

Why did the Pies leave their spiritual home in the first place?

I think the Dees deserve more the location at Olympic Park.

Dont matter.

The umps will look after them but they'll still lose.

Their hysterical behaviour on falling into the 8 even beating us after returning from the NT is quite sad really.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
