OK, hear me out here.  A bit left field.

If Trac is sick of the club and concerned about his brand, trade him to Richmond for Yze, Punt Road Oval and all their draft picks. I'm not actually that concerned about the draft picks.

Punt Road is well located (at least *literally* miles better than Casey) and will serve the team well for generations.

Richmond can go and train at Kevin Bartlett oval or some [censored].  Don't care.

it's also about the sell off of sandown, and this would impact the money available for caulfield development, which in turn could impact the areas we are interested in

I have been hearing talk about sandown being sold for 20+ years and it still hasn't been even listed for sale. If that is the hold up we will both be in the ground before the first mfc player trains at Caulfield dc.

Isn’t there infighting amongst the melb racing club… I think this is holding up a deal

Yes, heard about this on the radio this morning but the contentious issues at MRC may not cross over with what MFC are trying to setup at the racecourse reserve.

The biggest reason we won't attract A Grade talent from other clubs, and become a big Club...

I'm sure it's been top of the agenda for this and past administrations just seems to always be road blocks.

Hopefully it gets approval soon @C.R.C

Why can’t they just only train out of AAMI/Gosch’s paddock until we get the new facility sorted? Is it because of the deal we signed with the city of Casey or do other clubs need to use it?

It gets shut down during the Australian open, at the peak of the pre season. No closed sessions can be run at Goschs for tactical drills. We don’t have an indoor facility at AAMI like every other club in the competition, and the one at Casey was built for VFL-AFLW, and is still only half the size of what others have.

Taking into effect they'd be stiff being in a car for an hour or so.

Brock McLean mentioned this year's back as another reason why he left Melbourne.

A couple of years back there was a gold plated plan to relocate to Melbourne Uni.

Close to transport, coffee shop and muffins.

Utilise their gym, oval and medical staff and educational facilities.

A big problem with AAMI Park is that MFC don't have exclusive rights to the facilities, it has to be shared amongst Melbourne Victory and Melbourne Storm.  The facilities are also better out at Casey, MFC have exclusive use of the facilities there because it is their investment.

Can't the Australian Open move. I hear from the East Melbourne dog walkers that the tennis makes a racket and the noise upsets the dogs.

CEO Paul McNamee was going to move us into the venue, opportunity lost.

Caulfield as an option was a distraction from the board it simply wont happen and everyone knows it.

The club with get the DD report and the council/state government won't agree on it as it public open space so this is pie in the sky stuff that wastes more time.

fawkner park would be a terrific location. would tick all boxes. i believe it was looked at but got scrapped as not being obtainable. don't know the nitty gritty reasons though

Ironical that a bloke that was disciplined by the club for doing burnouts in the Trinity Grammar car park on his way out from a pre season training session had an issue with training at Cranbourne where burnouts are a way of life.

Really DD you take Brocks opinion ?
He has no right to any opinions IMO after he did what he did as whistleblower.

If the haters are still unchanged re Trac they should absolutely disregard a stupid comment like this. What do players on other Clubs get  to training Free Ubers?
Even other Clubs have some transport issues.
BTW it didn’t harm us in 2021 when the same size MCG oval was prioritised and the other facilities.

let’s be more grown up and sensible on this issue. Caulfield hopefully will prevail asap.

Waste of paper you wrote on DD not even funny or sensible or quirky. Please don’t try again.

The footprint of current state-of-the art AFL training facilities is larger than Uni of Melbourne has available.

BTW, one of Carlton's earliest ovals used in its early history are where the playing fields and residential colleges are currently at Melbourne Uni.

As for Fawkner Park, awesome location, don't see local sporting clubs and residents allowing that though. The beauty of Caulfield RC Reserve is that it is currently dead ground, not used by anyone regularly other than some dog walkers.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
