No Stiff. I am looking at the big picture

We should be pushing to get Training Facilities built into The New Great Southern Stand which will happen in about 10 years. Anything else on offer is just a tennant situation

We absolutely should and we absolutely asked the question. The MCC knows the funding is subject to them being impartial.

There's everything wrong with training on open parkland meters away from one of the busiest roads in Melb, regardless of it being resurfaced recently. FCS, even Arden Street now has a high fence of sorts around it!

That we (and Coll) won a flag training from Goshes is both a miracle in itself, and a disappointment as to how much better we could be during this rate period of success had we world class facilities. We lean heavily on Casey Fields because it's so much better than what we have in town

Have you been to Gosch’s Park?

It is a beautiful surface, we lack nothing by training there

But we are constitutionally part of The MCC

Being impartial shouldn’t have anything to do with it. We are the only Club in the League who must share facilities

Except the proper dimensions of our home ground

I think you will find that problem was seen too last summer

It’s going to be a [censored] fight. You’d think with the amount of space within there they’d be enough room for everyone. They tried to turn Elsternwick Park into a footy oval last year and the public stopped it. Problem is no one trusts the Racing Industry and that’s fair enough.

Collingwood, Hawthorn, Richmond will sit back and let us have exclusive training facilities built in to the G, and won't demand the same for themselves. Yes, I can see that happening.

i often wonder how hard we push the MCC for 1-2 training runs a week, nobody has ever given me a definitive answer, that includes Phone calls to the MCC.

Two seconds after we get access for training, Richmond, Hawthorn, Collingwood, not to mention Essendon, Carlton, Dogs/Roos/Saints will demand the same. Scuppering the whole idea, as the MCG turf is more sacrosanct than the head.

Nothing except having to drag all our gear, including marquees, tables, laptops, etc etc, 200m from AAMI, and back again.

Have you been along Swan St/Olympic Ave when we are training versus when the Pies are training? It's night and day professionalism. One's a major sporting club and one's a local team having a hitout. And you say we lack nothing?

I must say I’ve never understood why our training, aquatic and admin facilities can’t be built into the southern stand and Goschs is used for training. Other clubs have facilities so they wouldn’t care. That’s what I’d be pushing for…..happy with Caulfield though.

C’mon, it’s not like the players carry the equipment. Our situation is fine.

There you go.

A couple of suits having lunch doesn’t make a deal.

No attention paid to the grassroots, the citizens of GlenEira.

It wasn’t that long ago Caulfield were kicked out of the VFA because they couldn’t find the numbers to field a team.

Let the folks walk their dogs and feed the birds, and don’t tread where you’re

not welcome.

The article could just as easily said “Demons to finally bring life to forgotten area” MFC are set to engage the community in their plans to move to CRC. Plans are afoot to build ovals, dog tracks and parklands in this forgotten area of Caulfield……..

Huge crowd at the Caulfield Blue Diamond.

Entertained by Scotty Pippen, shooting hoops.

How many players  did we have there?

No kick to kick, no handing out MFC footies and key rings, no MFC dog leads, no free children’s memberships.

How many schools and playgrounds did we visit?
Marketing is vital if the club is going to pull it off.

Disregard the growing resentment against the club at your own peril.

And they have to share rooms, ice baths, physio facilities, gym equipment, team meeting rooms with Storm, Victory and Rebels.  And how do you think our Womens team fits into that arrangement?

You only have to go to Essendon to see what a proper facility is.  Even Collingwoods is not the best today but they are ligh years above what we have.

But do not say our situation is fine until you have seen what other have.

Christ what a bunch of whingers. Caulfield park is around the corner offering 64 (64!) acres of parkland.

And there is already a purpose built fenced dog play area on the western perimeter of Caulfield Racecourse. (Search "Pawfield Park Fenced Dog Park" on Google Maps.)

Of course rumours are going to run rife amongst the community.

These things get legs of their own.

"I heard a rumah that theyz gunna take away the dog area."
"Yair, I heard a rumah theyz gunna take away all the dogs too."
"Yair, I heard a rumah theyz gunna catch all the dogs an youthenise them!"
"I heard theyz gunna concrete the entire place except for some fake grass for the Melbin footy club and ya get arrested if ya walk on it!"

The proponents of the new Caulfield "sports precinct" must have anticipated complaints/demands from not only local residents but local sporting club. It's up to them to get out in front as much as possible with information. (I concede that they can't always do that on a time line that suits us.)

Pretty sure they made the dimensions to be the width of Marvel and Length of the MCG

But Caulfield will provide the total package when completed.

What do we want in the Warne Stand when it’s being renovated or rebuilt. Admin? Plus players facilities. Recovery gym medical facilities exercise areas indoor kicking and relaxation areas for down time.

Whoever is talking about  training on the MCG again has been under a rock for about 4 decades. That  can’t go back to when we were the sole occupant or even when Tigers shared the ground.  4 tenants and about 4 other sub tenants now play at the G. There is like 50/60 plus games per season. The Ground has to have a rest and midweek Mon to Wed or Thursday is that period to allow for recovery and maintenance. It is unfortunately our ground we share with Pies Tigers and Hawks .

other sub tenants are Blues Bombers Cats ( who might forgo half their games  at G to Cattery. But that’s only 2 games say vs Bombers or Hawks or Dees or one of Pies Tigers and Blues every third year.

SWYL sorry but your posts are resembling the 20th century use of the G and that won’t go backward so we can train etc there.

Caulfied train 2 days and Casey 1 it would prob be in the future. Not sure if any use of Goschs at all.

sounds about as good as it gets. Bloody good in fact.

History is to be remembered not lived, time to move on from thinking that we be back at the MCG full time.

I get all that.
I just hate everything to do with the Racing Industry, i am still furious that they were allowed to fully continue to operate during Full Lockdown

Politics at Play

and of course GSAC for swiming etc, and the upgraded Carnegie Memorial Swimming which hopefully will be open by the end of the year and the recently ugraded facilities in Lords reserve; and Caulfield Park and EE Gunn Reserve not to mention all that land freed up with Sky Rail....where Glen Eira does need more open space is down towards Elsternwick...

Anyway Caulfied is a very large site and I think it should be able to accommodate most people.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
