They should give it to us!ย ๐Ÿ˜€ย Although a lot of veteran Dees fans probably wouldn't be comfortable training on a space where so many legendary Pies teams were made.ย

indoor training facility

pool plus gym

We've secured multiple rounds of upgrades for Casey Fields.

We secured the Gosch's Paddock oval upgrade.

Personally I think we were close to getting the Olympic Park upgrade done, but the switch flipped really quickly from all out spending on Covid recovery to being far more careful with spending given the steep inflation. That impacted governments and it would've impacted our desire to borrow 10's of Millions of debt to pay for facilities too.

Whilst it's disappointing it really has little impact on wins and losses.ย

The one thing I think we should go for is ditching the idea of the women playing at Casey and making sure we have a ground that can host them either our heartland or a growth area that works for hosting our men. After seeing Brisbane's facility that has to be the aim.

Factually correct as all of our 3 teams have won flags within 2 seasons .. but itโ€™s 2022 and the MFC is the only club without a truly home training base they call their own! The continued failure by successive boards to find a home whilst the cats get 140 mill, dogs & tigers get 70 mill in funding is a joke! Current board have done great in off the the field and produce healthy profits, but we are last on the ladder for training base

Is it a simple matter of needing government funding otherwise it ain't happening?

I don't think the funding is the problem, it's no location. But it is all so secret how would we know.ย

Yeah, don't do that, how about you just send an email hey?

Well a week has passed since I emailed El President and the reply I have is that my email has been passed on. Patience is a virtue they say.ย

A couple of years ago I saw Paul Roos out at dinner. I walked up to him and said hi, he was lovely. He said he saw me at my table and wanted to introduce himself but didnโ€™t want to come across as a โ€œfan boyโ€. Anyway, I signed his napkin and left him to it.ย

The government know they have to do something about Punt Road, and that will take years.ย  ย In the meantime they are not going to allow any major project within 100 metres until at least plannig is completed.

What's the go there stinga? What's in the works? They've only just in the last couple of years done some pretty big changes between Swan St and the Fwy.

For all those expecting a training ground will be announced soon forget it, it will be over 5 years away.

There are a couple of sites we are looking at but in the short term, we will be housed at Casey and the facilities there are going to be upgraded, as are the current facilities at Olympic Park.

if it's to be another 5 years just for a decision, this will likely set a 'land page record. currently already 94 pagesย ๐Ÿ˜ฒย

Then why don't they just tell us that Dante? It seems they are very frightened to tell the position we are in.ย ย

There is another DL thread with over a 1000 more pages than this one and far more interesting info. than this non event thread ever has.

Thatโ€™s simply not good enough. This board, Roffey in particular, said they were going to sort this mess out (give me 6.5 years and Iโ€™d sort it out too).

If the masses are gonna have to wait another 5 years for any worthwhile plans, and not even be drip fed tidbits for the foreseeable future, then itโ€™s time to step aside. This is nothing short of failing the only mandate Roffey & Co came in to power on.

Both you and I, OD were probably at this meeting and heard thisย  ....0.22 to 0.29.

We were hoping that something could be done in the intervening 25 years since this day, and now we are being told another 5 years!

Not necessarily the announcement but the completion of the project after the negotiations are completed. There are several options and it will take some time to work out which is the most viable and affordable. Money has to come from several areas and it will involve Govt., AFL and our own money.

Whilst the majority of Landers think the players hate travelling to Casey, that couldn't be further from the truth, it may have been, but isn't anymore, the current group are very happy with the facilities and they are soon to be improved.

And only a decision in five years, God knows how long before works would start. It is IMO time to drop the close to the G requirement. A large number of the current players won't be even playing by then.ย

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterdayโ€™s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown andย  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
