Loved the win. Could have been a bigger win if not for the 50s and advantage that wasn't allowed.

though Pearce was good in the 1st quarter but was wasted behind the ball after that. Especially in the 2nd and 4th when we had the wind.

It's not really something you can see but I'd think she was pivotal to our setting up behind the ball, especially in the 4th. Assuming that is as big a consideration to her playing there as providing drive off half back.

Umpires had an impact on the margin for sure. Happy for the gals.

That advantage that wasn’t allowed was one of the worst decisions you could ever see. The ball was kicked inside 50 to two Melbourne players with no North player within 30 metres of them, The umpire then called the ball back for a free kick to the Melbourne player who kicked the ball. All spectators were incredulous no matter what side they supported.

Everyone, including the AFL admin, have to get over making scores happen in AFLW! Its not the same game! Low scores make for great contests... That's CONTESTS!!! Accept that the scores will be lower. The women are already limited by the time allowed and modified rules. Accept that if the men played under the same conditions, the scores would be considerably lower! Our women did extremely well today after kicking into a gale in the first Q, and having to field an inexperienced team due to injury. North were considered one of the power teams of the comp. Credit where credit is due... Great win Dees!

An enjoyable day down at the park. A very good win by the girls. I thaught we shut them down with good contested footy and our backline was magnificent in the 3rd quarter.  Downie and Birch played fantastic games. Birch was an important pick up. Daisy was quiet today but was there to direct traffic from the backline. I thaught it was a good coaching move.

Our midfield lost it at centre bounces and thankfully there was only a few of them. Howeveer around the ground they were very good and applied a lot of pressure. Paxman played a great game and was supported well by O'Dea with Hore and Scott playing well.

Although a low score I thauught our forward line looked dangerous with Zanker and Cunningham. Zanker was fantastic in the last quarter and presented well all day.

Agree it’s very hard to watch. I just can’t get into it tbh especially with the continual low scores and skill level.

Before u all jump on me thats just my opinion and there are people who enjoy watching it and thats far enough.

Join me in getting bashed by the PC brigade mate.
They’re frothing for it - opinions don’t mean jack.

I'm very happy tonight.  Different game but still red and blue!  Love the Dees, regardless of gender.

Nope but blokes keep potting it. It’s not for us, it’s for a new generation of girls and woman to enjoy the sport. The skills have improved dramatically over 3 years and it is a joy to watch for mine.

Plonker. Imagine how good they will be after 150 years of playing the game.

I am the furthest thing from the PC brigade as you will find but I enjoy womens footy.

Quite possibly. But in quarter 2 and 4 the backline was pretty irrelevant as tends to be the way at Casey

As others have pointed out the game goes for half as long as a men's match so scores will naturally be lower. Games are also much more exposed to the wheather which  impacts scoring. The last touch rule also results in more half ground turnovers.

Add to that shorter, less precise kicks and you get a lower scoring match, that is nevertheless fantastic contested footy that I really enjoy watching.

Also worth noting that the scoring and standard has increased dramatically from the first round to the end of season in previous seasons.

I haven't seen the game yet, but sounds like Katie Hore was a bit of a star.  In the generally low scoring game that AFLW tends to be she is a highly valuable play, because she has such a great knack of finding the ball in the forwardline and rarely wastes a shot on goal.

The Commentator kept reminding us she kicked 1:7 last year...

Plonker is a bit harsh but whatever.

I'm sure it’s going to improve and really hope it does at a faster rate than what we’re seeing now.

It was awful watching.

I don’t have a problem with what I said at all.

I was happy the girls won.

I get that some people don't enjoy the spectacle. You're one and that's fine. It's your right to have that opinion.

I do enjoy it, but I can still acknowledge it lacks the quality of the men's comp. And I don't think it will improve dramatically until the AFL buy in completely. These ladies aren't professionals. They have shorter preseasons which, due to work commitments, involve a few hours at the club a week. They play 8 games (I think) plus finals and then go back to their respective state leagues where, again, their training is limited by work commitments.

Until the AFL commits to a full pre-season and season with professional players and coaches, I think the quality will continue to be an issue for people. It's not for me, but I've never expected it to be at or near the level of the men's comp. Some people might argue they don't deserve to be paid a professional wage or don't pull their own weight yet until the quality picks up further, but I don't see how it would without players having the time and resources to work at it full time.
