He was bloody fantastic.  Only 19 and with 10 (?) games - he is keeping B Brown and Weid out of the side.  Last night was his best game and he is getting better every week. Very, very exciting.

I've noticed that LJ has flat hands when he attempts a mark and he tends to knock the ball forward of his body and then marks on the follow up. He is/will be a very good player and like most I've noticed he improves every game.

Love the 2nd efforts. Huge upside as a ruckman and midfielder.  Absolutely a huge weapon with Gawn that will destroy other teams.

Obviously he still needs the development work on kicking, marking, and footy intelligence. At 19, he has the time.

Just need to keep him away from the Dockers and Eagles.

Willing to admit defeat yet? Clearly isn't a natural forward. Surely that's evident after 7 rounds?  He's playing super well when up the ground and around the ground etc. but as a forward he doesn't have the key forward craft of a Josh Kennedy or Riewoldt. And it's blasphemous to even compare them. Also, I might add that most (if not all) of Jacksons goals are crumbing types.

A few posters that are saying that a bag of 5 are just around the corner may be waiting a while :)

You've got to feel a bit sorry for the poor Doctor.  With all this winning going on, the barrel has never been scraped harder in an effort to find some way to pot the mighty Demons.

I luv having the Doc around. I might disagree with 99.9% of what he has to say, but because of his input:

- he raises the blood pressure of virtually all who read his posts thus initiating incredibly (demon) passionate chatter on here

- he inspires many of Demonstone's famous retorts - of which we are all great fans - and our Demon world would be a such a darker place without those retorts

So to me, the Doc makes this a better place for all, and I'm so happy he is here with us.

Unless of course one of his comments / predictions prove to be true. Then he can just [censored] right off.

Gone a little bit under the radar, but how good is this kid, that in his second season he’s straight back in, pushing out seasoned players (Ben Brown or Weid), and no one raises an eye-brow.

Mind blowing how far this young man could go in this game...

I think that the recruiters when they selected Luke had some idea what the upside to his game were but did not expect his development being so quick along with TMac's form reversal has created a winning senario for the club.

This has probably created the selection problems which the club now faces which is a good thing for the team since players are now on notice play well along with doing the team thing and you will retain your place.

If players play poorly or don't do the team thing then your in the VFL.

I already predicted Luke would have a breakout game this year but I am pleasantly surprised by his consistant level of performance over the 8 games were he has allowed Gawn to rest or play forward.

I still think he will surpass his Rising Star game and take a game by its throat and kill it.

I think the MFC has made good decision on recruiting in the last 3 seasons but the best recruit is Mark Williams who challenges the players to get the best out of themselves.

DON’T GO, LUKE

There have been rumours swirling recently that Melbourne’s Luke Jackson is homesick and misses family and friends in Perth.

These have been flatly denied and the Demons are not concerned about losing him any time soon given he’s contracted until the end of 2022, but they did put their foot down when he asked to move out recently.

Man On The Mark understands Melbourne did not believe Jackson was ready to move away from host family – the Brayshaws – and made this point clear to him when he asked to change accommodation.

The Brayshaw clan also have Trent Rivers and mid-season pick-up Daniel Turner under the same roof.

Most likely just a junk piece from Morris

He's 19 years old, 20 in September, but Melbourne apparently don't think he should decide where he lives? Is this just a beat-up?

Based on the fact you don't like it, or based on the fact he has strong connections with MFC and has been correct on numerous occasions about MFC things?

Based on the fact he is like a little kid in a lolley shop with a lot of his articles and on Foxsports.

And so it begins.

"There have been rumours swirling recently that Melbourne’s Luke Jackson is homesick and misses family and friends in Perth.

Has anyone on DL heard these rumours. First I've heard of it. Always the worry drafting young Western Australians but he's coming into a very different environment than the one Jesse Hogan came into when he was only a 17yr old.  So hopefully a very different scenario with hopefully a very different individual, who also has his best mate, Rivers, here playing with him.

Always a bit of a worry when a young player doesn't sign a longer term extension than just one year. We'll now be on the merry go round with him until we get a more meaningful extension than the repeat 2 year ones that Hogan would only make.

Yes, and I posted it here a fair while back.

Doesn't mean he's gone, but from what I've heard there is definitely something to it.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
