To force them to use their first pick on him. If he's not nominated before their first pick then they grab another talented kid and then pay for him later in the draft.

I perfectly understand that strategy and agree with it, however, you miss the point of my post which was all about the detail of a mock draft from an actual ELITE  AFL club and who they had at 3.

Yesterday I had breakfast with a mate that has been part of an AFL club’s recruitment team for 10 years and due to him passing me info prior to the actual Draft, I would rather keep the Club confidential, however, let me assure you that this is one hell of a successful club.

My mate’s role is purely Victorian based and focuses totally on the TAC, no other league.

The bottom line is that he told me this Club had a major meeting last Saturday whereby all the TAC watchers met for a full day and compiled a mock Draft of Victorian TAC players.

Whilst having to be a little guarded at this time of year, my mate told me that at Saturday’s meeting, Hayden Young was the almost totally unanimous choice as number 3 from the TAC. In fact, my mate scoffed at the thought of overlooking Young at 3 even after the interstate kids were factored in

He was very strong in his praise of Kemp but didn’t want to elaborate too much about other players in the 5 to 10 range as this is where his Club would be selecting.

He did however say that neither he or any of his other TAC watchers had Weightman in the first 12 and said he’d be highly surprised if any Club took him in the Top 10 after the interstaters were added in.

Thought you might be interested.

This is some deep state disinformation by either RFC, HFC, CFC or GFC.

Two scenarios

1. They WANT Young, so they put this out there, thinking we will think this is a disinfo campaign so we will select not-Young. (I feel like I am in Inception and don't know how many levels down I am.) Probability - 5%

2. They want someone else so put this out there hoping we take him so they can get their man. They do the same with other unwitting assets for other club forums with other players to freak clubs out so they get their man. Probability - 93%

The most likely, Occams Razor-esque explanation - that this is all true - I find highly unlikely and scoff at that. 2%

:roos:

PS: thanks for the info.. :)

You are so overthinking this mate. This is from a mate of 40 years who we each served as each other’s Best Man at our respective weddings 30 years ago.  There is no bs with this info.

For the last 10 years I get emailed his Club’s full Draft report about 5 minutes before the Draft and I have never let him down by abusing the trust.

Luke Jackson should be considered. He could play as a tall forward relief ruck especially against teams with tall defenders like Collingwood and GWS. He even has the skill to play in bursts as a tall on baller. Check out his highlights. He's going to  be a star. Let him learn from Max. Similar in some ways to Steff Martin but a smooth mover. He could play at full forward.

One of my very rare posts.

At the B&F my table was beside one that contained a number of MFC dignitaries (ex-players) one of them I have I know quite well.  He was a talent spotter for the MFC for a number of years until we told him his services were no longer needed.

Strangely (not) another AFL club enlisted his services in the same role (probably the most succesfull Melbourne based club in the past 10 years) he is still doing the job to this day but did tell me this is his last year.  Getting a bit old to get up and drive all over the place to watch TAC and APS games.

His comments, bottom line first two that GCS will take are head and shoulders, next five or six any bodies guess.  Young good value, asked about Kemp, his comment was would, you be prepared to use pick three on a kid with a suspect knee.

At that point in time we did not have pick eight for me, Young & Kemp

I think best to not to attempt to out goowindees Moonie. He's already pushing too close to the line because posters can't be bothered to determine credibility for themselves and demand to know every ingredient of the secret sauce.

Essentially removes GWS from having pick 6, and promotes us to pick 7.

Young - if he is bringing the ball  out of defence I would quite enjoy the feeling of being confident as aposed to [censored] myself.

Kemp if available at 8 because he has the frame and size aswell as the attributes to tear a game to shreds. Aka dangerousfields

If Young comes in and with a fit/in form Hannan/Gus i am struggling to see where Salem fits in tbh.

He's a great accumulator don't get me wrong and a solid player....just not that damaging with run or penetrating kicks to damaging places.

Very classy in close and dishing off to players in immediate vicinity but that mostly delays the ball from transitioning quickly inside 50.

Hibberd looks finished to many of us. He's near the end anyway so he is who would be replaced, not Salem.

In 2021 quite possibly 55.  If not it's still Hibb & more likely Young assuming we pick him up.  I'm not talking about replacing Salem as such.  Is there room out wide if Hannan, Langdon, Tomo and possibly Young and Gus are running around there?  Tomo can drop back to a HBF also.  I'm sure there's room but just not sure what his role is with so many options now.

Salem > Hibberd now.

Veteran Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin returned to the training track to bring you the following observations from Gosch's Paddock this morning. Beautiful morning for training. The dew has dried, out from AAMI, quiet chatting. Maysie does his heart symbol. 7 in rehab, Turner, Hore, Sestan, BBB, Petty, Spargo and Schache. All in runners. Melky weighted and change of angles work. Salem has his individual program. White cap (no contact), Howes, Woewodin and Sparrow

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th
