Clayton Oliver had the most contested possessions in the league, showing an incredible ability to win the hard ball for someone of his age. He racked up 30 disposals and averaged 19 handballs per game in 2019. He is known for his fast hands in congestion and was one of his side’s most reliable performers for the year and won his second  ‘Bluey’ in 2019.

Maybe we should fill our forward 50 with murky water and let him boot the ball over it.

Still believe he can reach greater levels and it’s quite scary to think what it will look like. So glad he’s ours.

i think you should highlight that we won the longest kick competition too!

if he learns to slow down his approach to the game then i think he could get even better

he could be, if he's not already, the best midfielder we have ever had

Magnificent thus far in his career. I am less critical of some about his disposal. If players spread from stoppages I reckon he win find them A Grade and well deserved.

His game needs more refinement. The club has to find away to maximise his talents and  ball sharing ability. He did a lot for little impact. Not so much his fault as poor midfield chemistry.

Love Clayton, great get by the MFC.

Didn't think it was his best year to date but...

Taking from these 2 posts if we can get the midfield chemistry right, better spread, we get better use of his ball winning talent.

I think he will also hit the scoreboard more as he learns when to take his shot & have the confidence to do it.

Both he and Gawn could be so more damaging. They are generational players. Up to the coaching staff to maximise their impact.

In the back half of the year I would have liked to see Oliver being played as an outside mid simply to improve his kicking and awareness. The game results were irrelevant and most were losses anyway so not sure why there was not more thinking towards 2020.

Clayton is a machine a robot and will enjoy his success's for years to come. His season was not of what his capable of IMO he can be  a little cleaner with with hands and be able to kick more goals in a season.

I believe in 2020 he will be able to take the next step now that he has played 80 odd games.  Now that is quite scary.

He had a good year (not great), but needs to use his run and carry more. He's explosive, but too often hives the dinky handball rather than busting through packs.

Hopefully Burgess can get him to work on this, and then the coaches can convince him to use it. He's quick; you just wouldn't know it because he rarely uses it.

Coming back from two shoulder clean ups and considering the season other players had around him, a very good year from our young gun.

With a more fit & in form Viney, Tracc likely to play alot more time through the mid and some additional outside options to link up with in 2020...we just might see our first Chas medalist since 2000.

Love this guy

needs to hurt the opposition more with his disposal

Gun player who may very well be our next Brownlow medalist. Crucial player in our bid for a flag(s) over the next five years. Can be a bit of a dique sometimes. Needs to iron that out.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
