I’ll have another listen, thoughts that’s what I heard. I like Garry, it was just a comment. I do find it funny that you thought that was an attack though, how thin skinned we are these days.

Pretty clearly misquoting something to try and imply Lyon doesn't want to be considered a Melbourne person is an attempt to have a crack at him. I'll take your word for it that's what you thought you heard originally though.

Re: Pick 3 - haven't had a first round in years. good quality in top 10. would look at deal with pick 3 to split pick.

Interesting caveat on that...he said for 2 picks in the top 10.

...but happy to go with pick 3.

Lol cool man, that means a lot to me.

Love how Josh Mahoney is so matter of fact about things, unlike half the other footy managers.

I am very happy with attempts to improve our line-up with Langdon (wingman and great runner), Tomlinson (depth and tall swingman - not keen on him playing wing though) , Elliott (playing out of goalsquare, although he's not across the line yet) plus by the sounds of it either a quality kicking half-back in Hayden Young or a hard-working, good kicking small in Caleb Serong with pick three.

But ultimately our list management team (not sure how much input Todd Viney has on it this year) has set up Goody for either a nice bounce back or an alarming fall should the moves not win the fans over.

Part of that reason is that the two most vilified regular players at the club (ANB and Oscar) are both still at the club and a fan favourite in Sam Frost has been effectively shown the door.

Ignore the fact that OMac had another year on his contract, if the club wanted him to move on, they would have found a way - clubs are very shrewd with this kind of thing.

So all this builds the appetite for an intriguing year and one that will be very much about our coach - success or failure.

He sounds like a Melbourne man alright. Half the posts on Demonland are supremely negative.

A deal with gws and GC to get 9&11??

I don't get the Lyon hatred either. How was he to know that Neeld would be a dud. We all were very hopeful when he was appointed as he was sold as the Mastermind behind Malthouse and Collingwood's midfield. Our club was a mess from top to bottom at the time and Garry had our best interests at heart. Not every move is a winning move and this one certainly turned to poo but it's not as if it was solely his fault and it seems that he now gets demonised for this one act and people forget the champion that he was. If he's negative about this club in the media then he is no different to 98% of Dees fans on this site and elsewhere.

Can't wait to see O Mac bursting out of defence with the ball next year. I'm sure his delivery will be so much better than Frosty.

Funnily enough, it's his best attribute.

Great kick for a key defender.

All other attributes are less than desirable.

JM showed total disrespect for Frosty with his comments so can see why hes on the outer now........Daming comments reflecting on AVB & KK as well.

Snout in the trough stuff.....

Ed and Adam........   Hope they are with us ASAP or for me it would be sleepless nights.

The other  player we can go after to help Tmac is a tall forward with good hands and can kick goals .Oh  he has been known to take pack marks  can break packs and plays on confidence. You know the purple patches type. His name is Sam they call him the WEID.

The phantom wears purple.............

The ting i found very intersting when Garry asked about Assistant and development coaches, JM said there will be no more coaches.. Just Richo and the Casey coach being a development coach... surely that cannot be correct.

Maybe holding out for Yze the year after? He'll be out of contract then.

Was also involved in the Sheedy rejection for Bailey in 2007.  Has history.  No hatred just not sure why the club felt it necessary to go back to the well again after that fail selection.

Garry is interested in MFC goings on and no doubt still loves the club.  A good listen with the analytics but his heart and profession (ie; what he takes seriously and where his skills lie) are with his media career.

Not Garry's fault he was selected twice either.  Poor leadership / decision making up top...yet again.

Until this club gets a Brendan Gale type heading it who has & sets a clear vision then drives the entire club towards those set goals we will most likely continue to flounder / dead cat bounce.

Very safe kick after taking an eternity to sum up his safest short option. Provides absolutely no run, much less burst out of defence.

If we’re playing Oscar as a second KPD, we’re in trouble.

Yze being interviewed for the Adelaide job and Scott Burns has withdrawn from applying. Ooze may be heading south.

Re OMac maybe the plan is to play him up forward this season. Experiment was on show late in the season

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.
