Not sure if I've created a new topic before so forgive me if this bloke's been covered. But I do like the look of Brodie Kemp, given we will probably be bumped down one.

https://www.espn.com.au/afl/story/_/id/26483254/shades-bont-brodie-kemp-continues-rise

He did his knee in July? but at 192 cm and with acceleration in the contest, he appeals. In a perfect world we'd split our pick and get another inside the first round (doubt it). It's whether the club can be patient, knowing that he wouldn't make his debut until the 2020 Prelim.

And besides, I can't get my head around a Caleb Serong at 178cm as a pick three.

Wonder if anyone else here has him as high as me?

I think if not for his injury he'd probably be a top 6 pick, and with that in mind i think we should seriously consider him if we do decide to split the pick

I rate him. Would’ve been taken at 3-5 before injury. According to recruiters he hasn’t slid much due to injury, likely coming around 8-10 now. If we split our pick and got picks in the teens back, he’ll likely be gone already.

I think the same Swooper.

I definitely had Kemp only behind Anderson and Rowell.

I will not be disappointed and we keep pick 3 and choose Kemp.  Reminded me of Dangerfield.

Though have to consider him missing most of 2020. Could we wait. Yes.  He is not good.

He is very very good.

I think given the profile of our list we are probably in a good position to wait as well, teams like the Suns are probably relying a little bit more on draftees to make a big impact quickly

If we don't get Anderson I hope we pick Kemp with one of our picks happy 2 wait for him to recover & develop.

Mister Taylor is really going to earn his bickies this year. If we can nail an elite mid to compliment Oliver and Harmes in there, it could set us up for the next 5-6 years.

Agree that when pick1 & 2 go to GC, Kemp needs to be considered with the likes of Young and Ash for pick 3, unless we trade it for Ben King ? (this is not a draft to be splitting the pick when it's so shallow)

Kemp seems to hit the contest in a similar way to Martin or Oliver. He accelerates into the stoppage, rather than being flat footed. Seems like a natural ball winner for that reason and unlike Oliver, appears to be able to play more time forward, followed by bursts in the midfield. This will suit him coming into the AFL system.

It's early, but could have a similar trajectory to Martin. I can see the Bontempelli comparisons too, but will be interesting to see if we're seriously looking at this kid.

JT will have to be seriously considering calling him name out at pick 3 (or even pick 6 if the giants deal happens)

I like this kid, think the upside is enormous

Would you get him with 6? If he is what we want and he is there at 6 then you would still do a deal with GWS for 6, 2020 first and maybe something else. Maybe they could delist a player for us to take.

I'd take him with 8 and best available at 3. I'd also be getting Wrecker, Flash and Nev into Jack Martin's ear for pick 2 PSD.

Bid for Green at number 3 and if we get him then you wouldn't take Kemp but go for a smaller ball user

I'm not keen on GWS 's future 2nd rounder next year. Not doing them any favours

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
