Sounds very much like you're more hopeful than anything else, mate.

Richmond win it unfortunately.

Yep on both counts mate.

A very disappointing game that I thought was over by about the 5 minute mark of the first Q.

It was pretty obvious Davis wasn't up to it in his first contest with Jack...that would not be a good look for his teammates to see the Captain make the wrong call on his fitness and put himself above the team.

Also sort of hindsight here but if you are going to take a player in after an operation the last one would have to be Whitfield...not exactly the poster boy of tough and uncompromising...

All we need is

A home ground

A dynamic president

Recruiters with a vision

A development program

A skilled coach

A club culture

A dozen or so extra top line players.

Yes great club team Richmond, great coach yes dynamic president, a skilled coach yes all true form 2017 untill 2019 this Richmond team,. Just go back to 2016 8 wins, coach under pressure everyone was calling for his sacking, a challenge to the president. Great club we can never be as good,  that's rubbish, between 1983 to 2012 this great club Richmond only played in 2 finals series. 12 months in footy is a long time, 12 months ago we were top 4 all of those points are what we had, 12 months later and all those points we don't have, wait 12 months, might be totally reverse. Our coach is only in his third year, Hardwick has been around 3 times longer and has been called everything from great coach to useless.

Dusty put in a stellar last quarter to clinch the medal but the kid gets in the picture.

What a debut and he was very influential.  His disposal skills and decision making seemed to inspire his veteran teammates.

It was as if they didn't want to be shown up.

The Pickett debut is one hell of a story.

Picket is now a life member of RFC after one game!

It's also a lesson in how life can be so unfair at time.

Delidio was sitting in the stands looking on.

Selective at best picking 2016. The one year in the last seven they did not make the finals.

Such irony. GF’s we aern’t Playing in

GF’s At The MCG, and that doesn’t bother you.

In fact you ridicule those who show disdain for it

You really sound like someone born with entitlement. I find most of your posts laughable. Most of them are negative and come from a 'born to rule' place. Get over it, it's a game called AFL where the playing field is NOT level, hasn't been for very many years.

Who ever said that brand (ie game style) and culture don't mean anything?

literally straight under your response...

Brand is a marketing term, and meaningless, culture is another thing all together and we do not have it  Hardwick is a balanced person, Goody not so much.

Pickett wouldn't fit into Goodwin's "handball around aimlessly in circles until we turn it over" game plan.

GW$ did a pretty good imitation today, IMO

And how many seasons has Hardwick had before proving himself to be a genius?  In 2016 the microwaves were warmed up at Punt Road and there were calls for his blood.

Problem with AFL over last few years the final has been a blow out. Boring to watch and unfortunately most switched of half way through the third.

Unfortunately this game has no more growth as much as they push the life out of it in non footy states.

Dirts - never fear.  Shocking and Gillon will no doubt come up with some more grippingly great rule changes off season to make the brand more appealing.

Culture is a Club thing Mono, not just down to the coach. Six years in to the Roos/Goodwin thing and we do not have it.

I think we need to take as many positives out of todays game as possible. At least GWS have dethroned us to take out the most recent horrendous finals performance.

Port already took that mantle from us in 2007 ADC.  44 v Cats 163.  Unless you are referring to the Prelim.  Then yes

I'd have GWS above us for a decent first quarter and keeping the Tigers goalless if it werent for a dodgy free kick to Riewoldt and a very late Rioli goal. Our prelim would've been x10 as horrendous if it was a GF

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
