I had a Strange Fantastic Dream last night!!

FROSTY WON THE NORM SMITH MEDAL IN 2020 In yet another inspiring display for the Hawks.

Just remind me again Why we did this?? which will come back a bite us Hard on the rrrse!

Love this album 'picket', but there are a fair few drug references on it.

It would indeed be a strange fantastic drug induced (Too much Chicken S...) dream for Frost to win a Norm, not a chance in real life...

I suggest we all bid him a Jamaican Farewell, get over it and get on with season 2020.

What team in their right mind trades their fastest speedster?. It'll finally click for Frost within a couple of years, and he's going to embarrass us when we meet Hawthorn. Honestly, all the best Frosty.

Yeah, wonder if the Hawks will give him another 8 years for things to "finally click". Laughable. If it hasn't clicked by now, it won't.

I feel like we have given up Dustin Martin with the way some of these campaigners on here are carrying on.

quite the opposite really, I don't think they have panicked at all. if they had they would of made some of the dumb decisions poster's on this site have been ranting about.

You probably said the same when a few posters thought that the Neeld appointments was a mistake.

Didn't read demonland then and the neeld appointment was always a mistake made by a dud board.

If this thread is going to continue can we please refer to Frost by his full name - “Future Brownlow Medalist Sam Frost”.

I cannot think of any other player on our list who improved to the same extent in 2019 that Frosty did. Many in fact went backwards IMHO.

To say that there is no role for him with Lever and May having an injury-free preseason (which hasn’t happened yet) is ingenious and defies  the role that he played this year in a ramshackle back half.

I'll Put my hand up.

i was disappointed we let Watts go and disappointed we let Hogan go.

But I didn't know the full story and supported the club. I think we missed both but have also moved forward with a better list.

Also disappointed that Frosty's gone but think we have improved the list.

Watts and Hogan haven't gone on yet to be unqualified stars of the like of Burgoyne, Jarman, Ablett Wanganeen, who can singlehanded affect a clubs fortunes. I am sure Frosty's not in their league and I reckon we have enough stars to step upthat we will not miss him.

im looking for our current list with the new additions to really step up and surprise many other clubs.

This is the first year of the Demons. We can win and continue for another 4 years as the kids hit their straps.

That is unlikely DP.  If you can reference anywhere (other than game day mascots) where we are "the Demons" pls i would be astounded.

That aspect of the club commenced back in the day, courtesy of the great Checker Hughes as you no doubt know, and began a slow dearh starting with Cam's attempt to change our colours to maroon and blue years back (working under cover on a covert Vlad operation to destroy any remnant of the Demon spirit...a la Fitzroy ... the only reasonable explanantion of course!) whilst gradually removing any reference to the 'scary' Demons in all marketing material and clothing etc.  The nail in the coffin the "we are Melbourne" vomit dished up a few years back.

Hmmm yeah you got me.

I refer to Demonland and support the Dees. Wear my old Melbourne Demons branded hats scarves shirts and jackets.

Perhaps this schizophrenic support is the root of our problems.

I have always argued that we are Melbourne ever since the aborted Hawthorn takeover. I continue to maintain the Melbourne name is our strongest ally in avoiding relocation etc. Also Melbourne should be more definitively used as marketing an promotion identity, leveraging off every other "Melbourne" campaign.

Still don't want to dilute the passion of my statement. We, Melbourne Football Club, must retain our rightful place as the premiere club.

We must win a premiership!

It's not  sycophancy, some don't just need to quote the bleeding obvious in every thread

If we have a poor year again of course Goodwin's job will be under the microscope

Not sure where you get the desperate from

This is amazing on Frost, liked him as a bloke, loved the fun of watching him take off on one of his runs, head in hands at some of his decision making and ball skills

This constant reference to speed, Richmond won the flag, and apart from a couple of small forwards, they had no real speeders, just good decision makers and ball users

No wonder Goody is going all in on Bennell and Murray.

We have negligently overlooked speed and outside run for years; and the penny finally dropped for the so-called brains trust.

Now the over-reach and massive gambling.

1. Strong Bennell > Murray consideration.

2. You say yourself that one more average year = essentially goodbye.

Surely you can do your own maths.

Perhaps you'd prefer we were going to bring back Trenners and McLean? Club cannot put a foot right IYHO.

    HIGHLIGHTS/LOWLIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne traveled across the continent to take on the Fremantle Dockers in sweltering conditions at Mandurah south of Perth in a game that delivered the club both its highlight and its lowlight in the first minute.  But first, let’s start by doing away with the usual cliches used in connection with the game. It was just a practice match and the result didn’t matter. Bad kicking is bad football. The game was played in severe heat, the swirly breeze played havoc with both teams resulting in

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
